Perhaps a Virtual Coin Show is in the cards following the example of Virtual Monterey Car Week

A looked forward to car event each year is the Monterey Car Week where enthusiasts gather on the California Coast to display their cars. Given the present world situation, the organizers have made the event virtual. Following the Monterey model, a virtual FUN Coin Show in January could at least keep the tradition alive if meeting in person remains problematic.
Here is an attempt to post a youtube link to my car entry in tomorrow's car show "Virtual Legends of the Autobahn."
(While I did drive the vehicle on the Autobahn, in the youtube video it is occupied by family members after its having arrived in the U.S.)

I really don't see the appeal or point of a virtual coin show. I am not buying much at all but the point of going to a show is to meet and talk to both collectors and dealers, buy and sell via in person as opposed to on the interwebs, and for some just to see (in person not photos) all the amazing coins with your own eyeballs. I just do not see how a virtual show can do any of those things.
My Collection of Old Holders
Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
I'm still holding out for the real FUN show in person. Time will tell.

I floated this idea well over a year ago and members roundly scoffed at the idea, so I would say it's a non-starter.
Of course the one big positive is that it could keep the tradition of FUN alive. Some type of hybrid event with limited physical participation might even mitigate some of the issues raised by others. It would also open up the opportunity for many who have never been able to go to Florida for FUN to at least participate in those events that can be virtually shared.
A virtual FUN show would be better than none at all....however, it may be a tad late to really set that up so it could truly do justice to the real thing. I do not think FUN 2021 has been cancelled yet... so perhaps the real thing is still possible. We shall see... Cheers, RickO
