Hi Guy's, I just bought a 1965 SMS. The Kennedy, do you think I have found the DDO-FS-001? Thanks for any answers.

I see split serifs and would agree with a DDO. Which one, I have no idea.

I did check Variety vista, It may seem I have the DDO-003 Variety? The split lines through the R, and the split serifs in the U and T.

Nice find! Proof, SMS, and mint sets are good places to look for Kennedy varieties. There are a lot of them, and many of those are really nice!

Thanks! If I decide to send it in, will PCGS help me figure out what exact variety it is? I'm quite not 100% sure? Have an idea, but not positive. Or if I write a certain variety and I'm wrong. Will they correct it? Thanks. ;)

If you want to know exactly what variety it is, I recommend sending it to James Wiles or John Wexler for attribution.

Our host does not attribute Coneca varieties such as DDO-003. They would label it as "Minor Variety" and "DDO", without specifying which one.

They will attribute any Cherrypicker's varieties, but be vigilant if it's a date where there are multiple known doubled die varieties. On such dates, I've frequently seen coins where the wrong doubled die variety is listed on the slab.

Thank you, for all the important info,my friend. :) yeah, my variety, isn't listed in the CPG. Only the 1965p and the 1966 SMS Kennedys. I'm also trying to find some kind of value for the DDO-003? Maybe,Ebay, huh?

2 coins currently listed on eBay for $100 each, but that doesn't tell you what they've actually sold for:
    https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=1965+half+dollar+ddo-003&_sacat=0&rt=nc&_fsrp=1

A search on Worthpoint.com shows several that have sold on eBay in the past, but you have to subscribe to their paid service to see what the prices were:
    https://www.worthpoint.com/inventory/search?query=1965+half+dollar+ddo-003&category=

One sold on GC in a lot of 2 different coins - the auction price was $168.12, but that was for both coins, together:

Wow, thank you for all the leg work to provide. I have to see first what my coin might grade.

Looks high grade (67ish) from the images but tough to grade through the cello.
Nice pick but you will need to find a rabid Kennedy collector to garner much interest.

I'll tell ya, there's a 99% chance that I won't sell any of my coins that I buy or that I even Cherry pick. But it's always nice to know the values on these coins, to maybe, later down the line that I'll either want to or have to. Years ago, I made that stupid mistake of selling 99% of all I had. Sure, I did need the money, but really not that much in dire need to. Kicking myself everyday. Lol.I once had an AWESOME collection of all sorts of coins! Oh well? This is why I'm holding on to with a more firmer fist. One example of what I let go. A Dansco Album filled with the Indian Head Nickel series. From 1913 -1938, average in fine condition. Also, filled with some 2-Feather coins! : )

Nice pictures... Good luck with the attribution. I built a Kennedy set years ago.... stopped about the time I retired... I have a couple of the varieties ... I believe I have the TDO... and a DDR...but they are raw.... Will have to look at that album again...Cheers, RickO

Lol.I finally cut him out of the entombed cellophane after 55 years! Not a Cameo. Some pics; Frame #4 and #8, are still in cellophane. I do notice something southwest of the letter I in Liberty?

Do you think I should dip him in Acetone?

Looks also like a partially effaced 'F" in the Designer's initials on the reverse.
