Is this real or fake?

I am going through my mothers coins that she collected during her life. This is just coins that were put in a jar by my grandparents, parents and me. This is several jars. The big question is - I found a 1913 V nickel in used condition, no more than a VF 20. Is this real? How do I find out?

Post a pic. There are rumors of a 6th coin.

There are no credible rumors of a sixth example.

Define credible. As in someone who actually knows something? No. Some random forum post I read today that mentioned them? Defiantly. Anyways the walton nickle was thought to be fake.

    You addressed “credible” adequately enough.😉

If it's not fake does it qualify as a Discovery Coin? Serious question.

    :)

I understand that. And I agree that it is fake. But....if it is not fake, would it be a Discovery Coin. Seriously. It's a hypothetical....I want to know the answer.

    Cartoonish fake.

But cool and worth keeping or selling (as a fake) for a few bucks.

No, a discovery coin would be more like if it was the first one found.

I'm sorry, But your 1913 Nickel made me spill my coffee all over myself. Was worth it for the good laugh though!

  • Thanks Guys - It was in a jar that was filled between 2015 - 2016 when she passed away. There are several other coins in there that I'm sure are fake. Most of the China remakes have a dark ring around the outside edge and are easy to pick out. I compared it to a 1912 v nickel that I had and could not see any differences except the graininess in the material. The date size looked to big but was comparable to the 1912. That is why I ask. But Thank you all for replying.
