Error coins don't interest me very much. But...I like that one! It's GREAT!
That must have been a sight when struck.
That one must have really been bouncing around the press to get struck four times like that! really cool looking. that's before the Mint had Installed the "High" speed presses.
looks like the initial strike was a broadstrike too
Collector, occasional seller
great look to it.
do you error guys keep eyes out for mates to big errors you've handled? then perhaps try to get them together to sell as set(s)?

WOW! that's wild!

No, Matching them up would take a huge amount of time and frustration.
In the 'old' days, I was buying large quantities of
mechanical errors, and over one or two 'batches',
I could find a mated pair or two.
There are a few '64 Cent Brockages that might have
matched one of these 3 or 4 struck '64 Cents, but I've
not seen one matched or mated together- I'm sure
they must exist.
nice. one never knows what there gonna see here
That's really cool. Those giant white prongs seem to hide a lot of the coin though. It's errors like these where it would be really nice to see the hidden parts. A True View of that would be neat.

4X but who's counting !!!!! NICE !!!!
i think part of the reason i ask is that i presume there aren't thousands of these more complicated brockages/multi-struck out there and after a decade of seeing them, i just figured that inevitably a person could put a few sets together and there is a financial incentive to do so. the mated pairs and/or groups i have seen, brockages, saddles, multis strucks, cuds, split flans etc are always a very nice presentation when together. especially with the multi-coin holder slabs these days. a few have been posted here in my tenure.
nice that you were able to do it a few times at least.
that small W on this one is really comical looking. some of the effects from crazy natural/assisted errors really help to stretch the imagination.

That is a really great error coin(s)....Amazing that it made it out of the Mint.... Cheers, RickO
Eye catching for sure. 1964 is a notorious year for dramatic errors—presumably many of them “assisted”.

Very cool! Four strikes, apparently in only three separate motions. It appears that two were saddle struck, which is a simultaneous occurrence.
Looks cleaned though. If it was not an error coin, I don’t think it would have straight graded. TPGs seem to let a lot of defects pass, when it comes to errors and exonumia.
Does this come with a certificate of authenticity from Walter Breen, John J. Ford and some guy in Tucson?
Huh? No. Can you expand further as you are a wealth of knowledge?
Quite a few multiple strike Lincoln's exist for 1964. If I recall correctly, Bowers and Ruddy (or Merena?) had a bunch of them years ago.
When I started with Collectors Clearinghouse in 1974 I was told to be leery of multi-struck 1964 cents that appeared to be too good to be true. I never had one in hand to authenticate so I cannot condemn them, but I am a great believer in the law of averages and the law of probability.
I am reminded of the time I was playing poker in South Tahoe and was dealt a Queens over Full House on the first five cards and betting ran riot through the fifth, sixth and seventh cards with not one player folding, only to discover that there were four full houses on the table plus three other good hands, and one of the house players had king high. I stood up and announced that I was going to go play where the law of averages still held, and left.
I generally don’t get very excited over error coins but this one is an exception.
Very cool 😎
Awesome.
Very dramatic and eye appealing coin!
I did not need to see the date to know this was struck in 1964. Like many have already stated, it was a banner year for shenanigans

Cool. Clearly worth at least 4 cents.
Has anyone researched to see if any mint employees got busted for this stuff back then? It astounds me what people are willing to risk to do stuff like these mint errors, stealing from the mail, etc. I think people don't really understand the value of federal pay and benefit programs they're taking chances with. I am not criticizing the coin at all.
i hadn't really given it too much thought but now you and some others here make me think of some possibilities. perhaps a person could obtain some blanks legally and illegally and maybe borrow some dies overnight. one could make a lot of neat errors overnight. i'm not sure it would be worth like you say, federal pay, benefits etc. but human behavior and reason aren't common bedfellows.

@ErrorsOnCoins - @FredWeinberg
how often do you see varieties on errors. rpm, ddo, some random FS# coin?

My kind of error coin. No magnifying glass needed!
Wow! Great error coins. I have a collection of 12 rotated dies(all Morgan's).
Neither of us do varies or most ddo's.
That said I do have a short set of all types of major errors on the year 2000 Type 2 Wide AM varieties.
Neat!

I only see 1 cent of copper!
That 1964 cent is spectacular!
4 heads are better then one!
HAPPY COLLECTING
Very dramatic error! It does make you think though how something like that could make it out of the mint without "help".
Cool 4-struck cent!
