I live in Bangor and know of only one shop worth a visit. Maritime International on Central St. in downtown Bangor. Very few slabbed coins. A lot of raw, bullion and jewelry. He also deals in military items. Nothing between Bar Harbor and Bangor.
The only dealers I encountered in Maine were at shows, sparsely populated state.
Don't miss the Lobster Rolls and the Fried Clams.... They will be far more of a treat than the coin shops Have a great trip, Cheers, RickO
There are a couple shops in Augusta if you’re driving through...
There is a good size shop in Hallowell that is close by. I don't remember the name of it though
I second the visit to Maritime International in Bangor. Paul is a straight shooter with good knowledge in several areas of both coins & exonumia (although he has a funny accent).
I'll third Maritime International in Bangor. Always a must stop when I am passing through Bangor.
The shop in Hallowell was Timeless Treasures. They moved up the road to Augusta a couple years ago. Much bigger location with real parking. Shop is half guns, half coins/paper money, with a bit of jewelry thrown in as well. Again, a must stop when passing through Augusta, only about an hour south of Bangor.
If you are traveling the coast, there is a shop in Rockport, MCN coins. They are about 5 minutes off Rt 1 between Damariscotta and Rockland, upstairs from Kelsey's appliance store. Best to call first unless you are driving right by.
No coin shops that I know of, but there is a lady that makes the best cheesecake and sells it out of her garage just outside of bar harbor. Yummy
And you will love acadia, one of the most beautiful places in america
If you're driving up I95 there is a indoor flea market in Scarborough that has a guy who deals with coins in the back on site and Saturday's only. There is also Republic Coin and Jewelry in Auburn further up I95.
