Never understood it in the first place. When doomsday hits and I'm trading my coins for cans of spam nobody is going to care if they are first strikes, MS69 or MS70, emergency issued, cac'd etc. Just another marketing ploy IMO.
Prepper vs. collector
The government is incapable of ever managing the economy. That is why communism collapsed. It is now socialism’s turn - Martin Armstrong
I lost any remaining interest in First Strike labels when I tried to get First Strike labels on 10 sets of 1993 Philadelphia 5 coin sets that I had which were still sealed in their original Registered mail package stamped early 1993.
By all criteria they qualified for FS labels but I was told "no go" simply because they would have been instant rarities and a problem for registry sets with FS coins.
I am sure there are others with similar coins.............

Does the registry award more points for lower serial numbers? If not, it could be interesting.
Not sure, but I rather doubt it.
It sounds like it would be pretty cool since it's how collectors collect.

According to the pop report there's a single First Day of Issue MS70 1986 $25 gold eagle. How'd that come about?
