There are no known 1884-S DDR. What you may be seeing is machine doubling. However, there are at least four known 1884-S VAMs with a double Mint mark. Check the top and bottom of the S mint mark.
I'm thinking that's another S under there that I pointed to
If you were to ask ME about any Morgan Dollar, at my current condition, you'd be asking for TROUBLE! Lol.
"Jesus died for you and for me, Thank you,Jesus"!!!
--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.Check for a short spike of metal or a diagonal line at top of upper loop opening and a vertical spike of metal at left of the lower loop opening
Hope it is not an added mint mark.

Here's some better pics
I posted more pics of the S mint mark up top in the main pics
Welcome to the forum!
Best chance it is a hit on the mint mark (PMD)
You can try to match it up here.

Can you get another close-up shot of the mint mark with some light on it?
Just based on the pictures, it looks like the mint mark has taken some hits, on and around the mark. You have good magnification, however, the focus/clarity needs improvement. I say that based on observation, not personal skill, since I take pictures with my phone I do not see a DDR there....Cheers, RickO
I see no doubling, with any "extra" details merely a result of being knocked around in circulation.
