Looking for Info on Packaged 1988 D Nickel
I have a 1988 D nickel that is in a clear package like a individually wrapped candy or something and it has a blank folded up white peice of paper included with it but you can't read what's on it. I haven't opened it and don't want to until I find out the value (unless it's Worth a ton). I've researched everywhere I can think of and I found almost nothing about a packaged nickel anywhere. So I have no idea what the value would be if there is any at all or if I should open it or not... which is killing me because I would love to open it and see what the little folded piece of paper says. Any information that anyone has would be fantastic and so helpful. The one teeny scrap of info I got was a guess that it was a payday nickel from the candy bar. The dates line up but it was just a guess.

Welcome to the forum!
A photo would help us to help you. Most likely something that was packaged by a private party after it left the mint.
Here are your photos.
I have not seen this type of packaging before, maybe one of the other members has.
Thank you. I'm new at this. Lol.
Hope this helps.
That's what I read too. I think that's what I have here but I can't know for sure without seeing a confirmed picture of one or something. It would be one hell of a weird thing if it wasn't though with those dates. Definitely fits. Thank you for your help!
I found this too. You might want to check it out.
The paper was likely a thank you for purchasing the candy bar. The nickel is Uncirculated and worth about 20¢ in my opinion. Great coin for an album. Since you didn't get the candy, at least enjoy the nickel!

I wonder what a 32 year old candy bar tastes like.
Successful BST deals with mustangt and jesbroken. Now EVERYTHING is for sale.
Mmmmmm I want that old candy bar, forget the nickel
He who knows he has enough is rich.
Just don't throw it in the pool!
It may be a decent find if it has full steps.

I wonder if Jefferson pigtails are more defined.
The members of this forum are truly amazing researchers!
NIce job tracking that down @Jimnight
It was a good promotion. I loved PayDays as a kid and really felt like I was getting a deal when I'd walk home from 7/11 with a candy bar and fresh nickel in my pocket.
Payday recently was forced to change it's name as unemployed people found it offensive.
I did not even realize there was such a promotion.... Was living in West Palm Beach at that time....Hmmmm... yeah, it was really busy that year...not much coin stuff at that time. Cheers, RickO
Maybe if you send the candy bar unopened to PCGS, they will slab it with a " PAYDAY" label like the cheerios coins. Just don't expect to get the candy bar back. The graders better check the expiration date on the wrapper ...
COOL! I don't remember that promotion, but I did send in a few wrappers and received a free T-shirt from them sometime back in the 80's.
Looking for the Packard that ran over my 1938-D nickel...
Seriously... welcome to the forum

Sort of reminds you of the Cheerios Sac. Dollar and Cent. Promotion.
