Anyone know facts in history about when we started to have a shortage in coins? I heard that each time it was right before we went to war etc.? Interesting times we live in.

Coin shortages caused by actual wars were due to the urgent need for metal to build munitions. The current coin shortage is more due to logistics of transportation and access. Apples and oranges.
