Yes, baseball fans, we are finally playing ball. Sure, it is going to be weird. but never the less, there're playing. First game is between Washington Nationals vs. New York Yankees. Post a New York coin and/or Washington coin. Thanks. I'm picking the Yanks today.
But my true team

Well, I love the game, regardless. Lol.

wrong forum, try the Sports Forum and wait for Bronco, he just LOVES baseball.
It’s as close as I can get right now.
Glad to have some more sports back. NBA is right around the corner!
I have no interest in watching or supporting any sports where politics is more important than the game, so basically all pro and college sports now.

Going to miss the roar and cheering of the crowd, but still, at least they're playing. I would prefer the League postponing the whole year, but oh well? Even the worst team, now has a chance to win it all. Lol

--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.not having any crowd noise might be quite interesting if the announcers don't do anything excessive to fill in as the game progresses. what we should be able to hear are the actual "sounds" of the game, chatter on the field and from the dugout, communication between the Manager/Pitching Coach-catcher-pitcher as the signs come in, heckling of the Umpires by players and the sound of the ball hitting the mitts during play. what will be best, though, is the crack of the bat!!
Yeah, they already stated, "No arguments between Umps and Players!"
Unless they stay 6 FT. apart. Lol.
A thought? When the batter hits the ball then while approaching first base. The first basemen must stay 6 FT. away from the runner! Ending always in a base hit. Lol.

--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line. The good thing about baseball season is that because I watch zero games a year, it doesn't take away from my coin time at all.
I like full contact sports ... not so much when it comes to games played with a ball.
I do not follow baseball, or any ball sport.... so, what is different about this season? Sure, it likely has to do with the virus, but what are the conditions, changes etc.?? Cheers, RickO
I'll probably be quarantining myself from baseball this year.
@ricko They've cut the season short by about 100 games, no fans in the stands, DH in both leagues, expanded playoffs (still negotiating?), among other things.
what hasn't changed? Players and owners still fought over the money and got no closer to a real working relationship than before...so this might not be the only shortened season on the horizon.
There are some changes to how games will be played and seen due to C19, but its the political issues the players are shoving at the fans that irks me. I go to or turn on a game to watch a game, I don't care in the least what a player's (any player) political agenda is; and I don't want it thrown at me. I'll continue to go and watch the high school sports once those resume but pro and college sports are history for me.

I doubt the OP was looking for people to question his choice rather maybe give him support or talk about their own experiences.
You go, Joey!
I too am excited about any sport right now that is allowed to move forward even if it is on an island in Saudi Arabia.
Let’s go NYY and NYR.
Just took a detour to my living room wall
There are many awesome New York storecards in the Civil War token series. Below is an example:

Like women’s mud wrestling😁
I lost my taste for professional baseball years ago when they went on strike for more money. I started to get back into it some, went to a few astro’s games then the whole garbage can thing - Geez!
Yanks take first game! From here, you can almost figure their "magic #." Lol

Crack Kills!
I have to add that it got pretty boring watching the game without the crowd. I was hoping to be back into it, but I couldn't keep watching. TV did its best to fill the silence with the simulated noise of people being there, but those empty seats kept glaring at me. No high fives, either.
Strange days, indeed

My sentiments exactly. I've always enjoyed watching several sports occasionally, but have lost nearly all interest except for my Cornhusker college games. Too much other 'stuff' now taking place on the sports venues. I stopped watching the Olympics years ago also. Sad....
Just want to say something that Cubs fans can't usually say:
It's JULY 24th and the Cubs are tied for the NL Central lead!!!!!
OK, nobody in the division has played a single game yet, but don't burst my bubble.

There will be no fans allowed inside the venues for the foreseeable future.
I'm not liking this nonsense of putting a runner at second to start extra innings.
Seems a very Little League thing to do.
I'm also not liking Edwin Diaz in the Mets Closer role after he gave up a homerun in the 9th with 2 outs and 2 strikes.
What did Yogi say?

Pace of play has been a struggle for MLB for years. I would imagine this forum has a lot of purists and people with patience. Not as many left outside of places like this.
Given the compressed schedule and all of the other current logistical issues, MLB decided it was in everyone's best interest to mitigate the possibility of endless extra inning games. That said, I think they've been looking at testing the concept out for a while now, and this gave them a good excuse to implement it. My first reaction was negative, but like most changes, we'll probably adapt if it becomes permanent.
Life is fast.
I watch baseball not because it mimicks the fast pace of life, but because it is relaxing. And slow.
In the last 2 years, MLB has implemented the abracadabra walk.
Limited mound visits.
Brought the designated hitter to the National League.
Placed an aforementioned T-ball runner on second base during extra innings.
And now, everyone gets in the playoffs so why even play 162 games.
You can literally be 20 games back in the pennant race, catch a hot streak, and win a World Series that you have no business even participating in.
Where does it end? 2 strike and you're out?
What they should've done is get rid of the ridiculous "shift." Wheras gits that were singles for the laste 125 years would not be automatic outs.
But I guess that would prolong the game people so anxiously want to speed up!
Do people have the same issue watching a man hit a golf ball for 18 boring holes?

Yes, my first assessments as well. I first thought the season shouldn't have even begun. But now, I figure, why not? Besides all the pitfalls. Ones you touched on, as well as, others. Baseball is still baseball. I love the game dearly! Right at this moment, I'm glad they decided to start the season, even a well shortened season is better than no baseball at all. Esp. when my team (St. Louis Cardinals) are so far, undefeated! 2-0 Lol.
Go Redbirds.
