planchet error, PMD, or other?

I’ve been filling some penny books with my kids (loving it) and came across this one that doesn’t look like the rest of the ones I’ve run over with the lawn mower.
I have never collected errors and know nothing about them, but want to educate my kids (and myself) if this is actually something that started off different.

Zinc rot / corrosion
Thanks. So a post-mint chemical issue? (As opposed to mechanical damage)

PMD and corrosion.... Not uncommon once the zinc is exposed like that. Thanks for the pictures. Cheers, RickO
It's toast. No stopping that rot. Peace Roy

It is slowly rotting away. Spend it while it is still worth something.
Yes, it and about 500 more will buy a cup of coffee.
