Apparently Exonumia is alive and well, at least at Stack's.

I was watching the lot below from an upcoming Stack's auction and have been noticing the bid level go up. Today I went to check on my "Watch List" and was really surprised to see where this one is at when the sale is still more than a week away. It's an interesting medal from the 1904 St. Louis Exhibition and from what I have seen it is prohibitively scarce, downright rare in Gilt Bronze. Other items have seen competitive bids but this one really stands out to me so I thought I'd link it up for everyone else.

Absolutely gorgeous, but I'll take the similarly designed one in bronze for sale in the BST for that money.

for clarification --- the one listed at the BST is the standard "Gold Medal" award while the one I linked is from the "Philipine Exhibit" located at the same exhibition. they are hardly the same thing which accounts for the understandable price difference.

That is a real beauty Al....If I were going to collect medals, that would surely be a prize I would look at...Cheers, RickO
