Pretty coin. Not my series, so I do not know if it is common to only get dark around the year. My fear would be old prior cleaning.

53, based on the first set of pictures; 55-58 based on the second set. Which is more accurate?

Top photos show nice luster, so I'll guess AU50.
I have not done my own photos yet but I would say the coin is between the two photos but not between the grades guessed.

Light in color, can't say that it was cleaned, but they will probably give you only 45.
20 sorry too hard. Ok not a bad 53.
decades old cleaning. 50.

I'm not very good at "reading" photos but I'm seeing nearly full mint frost on lady Liberty and the eagle, so I'm guessing MS60
Au 50?

Fiddy five from me.
I'm thinking I need to take my own photos.........................
@kaz is the closest so far.

Nice coin, regardless! Not that great at grading, in saying that, I would agree with the guesses with the highest grade. I like it. I don't feel it's been cleaned.

I don't think it's been cleaned and don't think it's lower than AU58. Beyond that, I can't tell.

We'll, with all the clues given I will lay claim to 61

Exceptional coin... Looks original to me and based on the second set of images, I see 55 as the floor and I would call it 58. Congrats ... This is an attractive look and I would argue that the look of the coin trumps whatever the current plastic opinion may be. congrats

The photos almost make it look like two different coins, with the first set definitely being the more flattering. Would be nice to see larger images that represent the actual look of the coin. Sounds like you're happy with it, so congrats are in order!
61 is such a strange grade. At least I got the MS part right!
Very nice!
Too late to the game.... Looking at the coin and the grade, well, I think it is fair based on the pictures....Probably my guess would have been a tad low...Cheers, RickO
I'd have said 58 but can't fault the TPG at 61. There is some high point rub or friction around the coin....in particular on the Eagle's lower left wing feathers....sort of miner when a coin has 80-90% of the original luster. Note that the right obv field is missing about 1/3 or more of the luster - with a luster "hole" quite visible. These days not a big difference from 58/61....in many cases worth more as an "every man" AU58. Some luster remains on portions of obv and rev flat rims. And some usually worn high points show no wear. All in all, no complaints. Decent seated dollars are not that easy to find.
Did this coin circulate for some period of time or just remain in a well handled mint bag until the 1960's? No way to know. And about the same outcome either way. Submit it 1-2 more times to confirm what grade it is. Could come back 58 next time. Then it would take a 3rd submission to break the tie.
I was seeing the dark areas on Liberty's arm, breast and head as rub and would have guessed at 55...
So, how does the TY in LIBERTY disappear without wear?
bob
If the TY were missing due to wear, rather than something to do with the minting process, many other design features would be noticeably worn.
