If you knew the virus would be around for another 6-12 more months...

... would you do anything different coin related wise? Keep buying more, sell more, maintain a hold position, continue on the way you always have? For myself,,I will probably muddle through it, and continue on as best I can as close to the way I always have.

I think we’ll be very lucky to be fully past it in 6-12mo. Also, I have no idea how to handle myself in many ways and coins are no different. I’m hoping to still have a job on the other side of the virus, so I’ll probably just be making small purchases to relieve stress and bring some joy without hampering available cash (provided my personal situation doesn’t dramatically change).
I started saving my mad money. No purchases or casino for me in three months or better. I may need it down the road so I've put the brakes on for now.

I think the virus will be around for that duration of time. Seeing gold and silver coin prices rise has made me slow down more than anything. I am just trying to stick with the buy low and don't buy when high scheme. I know there is a chance silver will not come back down to $14/oz and $20/oz may be the new low in the near future, but it has been going up and down so many times the past few years that I have built up a collection. It may be that time for some profit taking coming up. That's fine. One has to simply stick to their game or method and it will all work out.

The virus will definitely still be around that time period. Although enough people will have been infected that how it’s perceived may be different.
In any case, I wouldn’t do much differently from what I’ve been doing. I spent a bunch of money earlier this year. I’ve cycled down to buy inexpensive raw coins for my albums now. I’ll be doing that for a good while.
I haven’t looked at buying anything slabbed but I have a few coins I may send in later this year when I have enough to make it worthwhile.

I'm adding extra in the mad money a count. For the time being..
Buying hard. The coins I want seem to be a deal the last few months. I do not want to take advantage of people needing money but this hobby fluctuates such a great deal, now is just a down time. I don’t buy bullion😭unfortunately. I have crossed over a few coins with unbelievable turn around times. Even my raw economy submissions have been returned lighting fast (vouchers). Others have talked about eBay; I’ve given up on all purchases and stopped my sells...it’s just gotten to weird and basically unsafe from my standpoint. Someday the shows will return.....

I haven’t bought anything coin wise since March. Now I want to see if I can go a year as a personal perspective challenge. We’re back to work but with less production due to precautions. Grateful to have something going on to tread water with the bills and not using savings or emergency money. I’ve structured a plan for illness for my crew, clients or myself. Strictly spending on bills and essentials makes a coin purchase hard for me to justify or enjoy. Coins will be around next year, they’ve waited for me hundreds of years already.
The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is on and the looming impending country wide convergence has us all freaked out while grappling with if the schools will open or not and if I’ll send my kids. I expect the germ thing to get worse in our community but if we can get though to Sept without a big increase in cases, I may lighten up. I’m doubtful and being cautious at this point.
If coins nourish you or fill your heart, I say go for it. Individual situations vary.
I have not been buying much.... even before the pandemic. The occasional coin here and there...actually waiting for one purchased off the PM forum. I do not see that changing since I am not seeking items. Just the occasional special one that gets my attention. Might sell some gold though...not my stackers, but some special one's I have picked up years ago...can turn the funds to other things. So, business as usual...no planned changes now, or in the future - However, life happens.... Cheers, RickO
If it isn't a great "deal" ... pass. This is not the time to be stretching for anything, especially collectibles.
Of course it will still be around. Even the most wildly optimistic vaccine projections won’t get to everyone for several years. But, in another six months (year?) or so it will be just one more threat to our existence among hundreds of others we already know and deal with.
I have a set amount of savings / cash, other than that I've decided not to keep money in fiat. I have started investigating stocks more by the day but haven't done anything there yet as it seems like there is going to be another big dip. I put my excess at the moment into coins, mostly weight/bullion - prespike, some numismatic, and have some crypto still. I have the advantage of being in one of the "essential" job fields and am grateful. Not stretching myself, recommend keeping at least 6 month supply of fiat expenditures if you can split between bank and hidey hole. I honestly dunno though, just doing what works for me and is making me happy / gives me peace of mind atm. You can plan for years in advance but can only live life one day at a time.
Being a believer, I have come to terms with pestilence. It's been here for tens of thousands.... maybe billions of years. Like coins, kinda.
Doc B- here in the swamp we are hoping for post exposure mitigation as the key to a return to “normal.” Vaccine will be great but will likely come well after Docs have figured out the cocktail to limit lethality.

Agree. We're at all time highs. Over 70,000 cases in a day.
I'm sort of imagining it will be like this for a very long time in the US.
No comment, I have been silenced.
I should add I work alone 12-18 hours a day in the middle of 55 acres in Texas. I see no one or do business face to face with no one. Everything is left at the gate in a locked box. I do FaceTime with my grandson several times (WAY TO MANY) a day. While waiting on things to dry I cruise all the auction houses🙄.

The problem is the stats aren't anywhere near accurate. There are tons of false positives being reported across the nation. Anything mentioning Covid gets hospitals and care facilities $. It is happening, I work closely with the medical field and they are positive ID'ing patients that they don't even have results back for yet.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-XVqbEe3ns&t=798s explains it pretty well and I've seen it happening first hand. There is a rapid test available that can give results in under an hour and labs are being backed up weeks because the rapid tests are more expensive and it is cutting too much into the grants the government is giving care facilities. Also if someone passes away, if they were being tested for covid and the results still didn't come back but they were marked as covid positive the death is attributed to covid automatically in healthcare computer systems.
Interesting. So the numbers are fake and just a cash grab?
Don't get me wrong there is a Global Pandemic but even from the beginning with the way the US is treating it, it has been about money sadly, the flu was equally deadly this year globally but no news reporting on that.
It could be a way to transfer money but it's certainly very destructive with all the closed businesses and unemployment.
I honestly don't know
We're only in the first inning of this pandemic, and the number of deaths reported is certainly going to be a lower bound with the majority coming from developed nations. Think about all of the third world countries that don't have the medical infrastructure for wide-spread testing, let alone the bankroll to fund it (does anyone really think that Syria only has 477 cases and Liberia only has 1085?). Most of these countries can't even afford to shut down their economy, hence there are few if any preventative measures being taken.
Also the number of reported deaths is already bordering on the upper bound of global death estimates due to the flu from last year, so I don't think it's a reasonable comparison at all.
I agree this is NOT a doomsday scenario, and with the rate at which new information is being produced about the virus I don't have any concerns that we will get it under control, but it is a very different beast in comparison to the flu and there's no point in trying to coat that with sugar.
I appreciate coming here and reading the thoughtful responses.
Especially from those that are working in the field.
I also appreciate that the Irrational conspiracy theories are kept at a bare minimum.
And in response to the OP’s excellent question, I am not buying much because I buy primarily and mostly bullion coin and I am stocked up, just fine.
Continue along the way it suits me. I travel to the beat of my own drum.
Happy hunting, Joe
I’m just glad for eBay and these boards and circ commems friends to talk/text right now

Looks like I picked the wrong time to start a US gold type set. Prices are getting pretty steep even with premiums on the downtrend
I've got a nice 1886-s , $5 half eagle ; crusty but has luster remaining. A guy traded some half eagles for the new 2020 gold buffalo., at the shop. Check eBay. Auction is still competitive. No spam intended. FYI.
Rest assured it will be around until the election then the next it may just be part of history for the most part

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
Afraid you are right..could very well become endemic and could become part of the yearly vaccination do loop

I will still be buying if I can find anything that I need. I have not found anything in a couple of months.
