U. S. Mint ASE Email....are they getting crazier?

EMail today from our friends at the mint hawking their 2020-W ASE...$54 plus shipping.....strikes me that you'll be buried forever in bullion at that price. No mintage limit.....
Sorry, had to vent a bit....

Yup...probably locked into a loss on this one
Crazy!
Yes, the mint premiums for these are out of hand, IMO. I said I might get the limited edition proof set for this year and that’s all. I still think I will even though it will be overpriced. It’s just a nice presentation and I have no intention of reselling. Maybe if my son inherits it in 30-40 years it might be interesting.
Let’s see. My choice is one ASE or three decent Morgan or Peace Dollars. Seems easy since I have never collected modern coinage
I haven't seen what I consider a reasonably priced coin come out of the U.S. Mint in many years, if ever.
Not if you choose not to buy it.

I may get a proof for a few bucks more. I live near the West Point mint and COVID hit the area hard. It's like a sad reminder/momento of one of the worst years in my life.
...and.....they are "currently unavailable"
I will get the one coming with a privy mark and W mint mark....I like oddball issues...Cheers, RickO
These are no different then a basic 2020 ASE i can buy from any bullion dealer, correct?? Plus a display box?
No, it's burnished with a W mint mark.
so collectors who seriously keep
Up with the eagles gotta have it. (I'm not one but I deal to them).

Has there been any explanation given for this? I can't find anything from the Mint press office. Could they really have run out of their first striking ?
Could they have gotten a few huge orders?
Incorrect. These are the collector version and bear the W mint mark. Likely still struck on burnished blanks. Gold eagle W non proof also available each (most) year.
And yes, mint premiums for precious metal coins have gone through the roof. This will reduce the total sales (mintage) and scare off many of the flippers which will add to the reduction in sales.
No Way Out: Stimulus and Money Printing Are the Only Path Left
I will add one of these to my collection of SAE.
....aaaaaaand they are back
