I have a British copper, given to me by a family friend (non-collector)...It has two obverses, and when I noticed that (the individual that had it never noticed it), I looked closely... and it had a Kennedy half inside...Total surprise when I opened it...So, a lot of 'coins' have been messed with... for tricks etc.. I believe if you take the coin in the OP out of the 2x2, the edge should show the seam. Cheers, RickO

I've seen that kind of stuff before, a magicians coin indeed. :)

It is a magician's coin, but in general, don't be surprised by the crazy things some people do to coins.

Sometimes people mess with coins just to make someone stop and think "Who in their right mind...?"

For example, on one or two occasions in the past when I found myself with a silver Sharpie, some clad coins, and nothing better to do, I might have colored the edges of the coins silver. >:)
