2019 Quarter Error?

So, I was coming through a coin roll and I’m not the best when it comes to finding errors and knowing what they are. Saying that, I came across this 2019 D quarter and was wondering if someone could tell me if this is an error and if so what kind.

    Welcome to the forum.

It looks like just a scratched-up example, not an error.

Maybe some grease on the obverse die....

  • Thank you! Saw a few letters missing on some of the words and thought it might have been something.

It really is best to point out what you think the issue is.

On closer look I do see some weakness on the obverse - probably struck through grease. If it looks dramatic in person then by all means keep it as an example of that sort of error.

  • @JBK thank you for letting me know. I didn’t know how to describe it really well and thought someone would see what I meant. My mistake. On the coin the U in United, L in liberty, T in trust, E in we, and the D mint Mark are really weak and you can’t see them very well. I’ll be sure to remember your advice in the future!

Here is a link to a good explanation. This site has a lot of good error info, so you may want to bookmark it.

@DestC.... Welcome aboard....As mentioned above, it looks like a grease filled die...No numismatic premium, but good to keep in your 'education' collection. Cheers, RickO
