I was thrilled to get this coin at a very good IMO price and had lacked it from my penny collection:

Thanks, very scarce type (as opposed to the OT).

Looks like a pretty good example. Love Vicky coins from any country in the empire.

One of the fun aspects of participating here is to read about a coin finding its way into the right collection... Congrats

That's a great example of one of my favorite designs.

Yes, thanks. Will post pictures once in hand.
The 1853 Plain Trident penny is quite scarce, maybe close to rare in higher mint states.
Overall, the earlier large pennies can be found nicely struck with a variety of toning that can be quite pleasant.
I am biased of course, but compare to a US cent of the same vintage! Yikes, there is no comparison as far as design and die work, quality of strike, etc.
Good place to start IMO for someone that wants a very nice Victoria young head type....

Very nice - do you have, or will you be adding, the ornate far colon examples?

Not into "hypervarietals", this is as much of a subtype as I will go to.
I tried to get all the Victorias by date and mintmark in mint state (except the 1882 London Penny).

Thanks for the affirmation. I paid by check so have to wait for the actual coin to make it's way here from Los Angeles.

Yes, this 1853 PT as a much scarcer type (rare? in condition) was less than 300 dollars with all the juice, shipping, etc.

Yikes, still waiting on this coin. Small fry to Goldberg I guess. My favorite copper Vick penny is the 1849 in pristine higher mint states, even over the more famed 1860/59. I will try to post mine tonight if I can get 1/4 decent photo.

Actual pictures (the OP was NOT my coin, and it had not been graded as Goldberg said it was):

I took a video as these pictures don't show the amazing cartwheel lustre this coin has. In hand it appears much more striking (like the pun?).

I have really tried to get better pictures, but this was all I could do with iPhone and natural light:
