NY-845A-1a. D. Skidmore, Seneca Falls, NY PCGS MS65RB, ex. Q. David Bowers Collection
This is a great Civil War token from Seneca Falls, NY. Legend has it that this little town was the inspiration for Frank Capra's Christmas classic, "It's a Wonderful Life."
Struck by William Bridgens, these are wildly popular for the pictorial of an eagle smoking a cigar on the obverse.
It is thought these tokens could be redeemed for a cigar in the hotel's parlor room.
Post your coppers for the weekend, everyone.

Recently posted in another thread, but I like it enough to post it again. A Masonic penny from New Jersey with an encased Indian Cent. It’s the only one like it that I’ve ever personally seen.

@GoldenEgg,
Is your medal struck for the merchant Samuel Appleton?

Yep, that would be the guy! However, I don’t think they were struck for him, but more likely struck on behalf of the society, possibly with funds provided by him. I don’t have any references handy to confirm that.
IMO, it’s an ugly , yet appealing medal. It was struck by the Philadelphia Mint.
I also own one in silver, but I don’t have photos.

Indian head cents have always fascinated me. As a paperboy in the late 60’s I’d sometimes get them in change.
