This is interesting for me. This is what I call a Yucca plant. These have been planted for well over 20 years. Either 6 or 8 years ago they started popping a bloom every other year. I never knew they had flowers! They get so big I have to prop them up with a stick. The one in bloom here is over 7 feet tall! I have another interesting flower to post in a couple of weeks when it gets ripe for a photo!

Nice Yucca bloom...They were common in Arizona and much of the Southwest....The Century plant is really awesome...check it out. Cheers, RickO
At my previous house we had one just like it in North Jersey. Maybe it was a different type since it survived the winters? We loved it. After we lived there for a few years it bloomed apparently for the first time and surprised us. It bloomed every year after that though.
Now if you look real hard you can see some buds at the top of the wreath..... It's a plant. LOL....

This flower has an interesting tale. Last fall I noticed what I thought was a flower just popping up with 2 leaves. I thought it might be a New Guinea Impatient since we had several pots of them. My wife and my Mom both staunchly stated it was a weed. Boy was this a slow grower...of course being in front of a window in the kitchen during the winter doesn't give a plant loving sun a lot.
I had to guard my weed all winter! Even when in February it finally put out a small cluster of flowers. It was all leaves with that little blossom.I was finally able to leave it outside around the end of March and it really started growing. Then in the middle of April I could see 2 clusters started coming out above where the 1st cluster was. It's obviously going to be a proliferous bloomer as you can see. I suspect in the next month or so it will have 15 or 20 clusters!
Curiosity got to me so I hit google. It turns out they are called Egyptian Star Clusters and they are from East Africa! In some situations they can grow to 6 feet tall. I hope it doesn't out grow the pot it is in. Now...what are the odds that this little seed ended up in the middle of my pot on my deck? I don't have many close neighbors. I would place the odds close to the same as me finding a Brasher Doubloon in my front yard down here in the south!
