I have a great and terrible track record at CRO.
I've been able to find great coins and tokens I want there. My terrible track record is they are all purchased when I first learn about them!
Here's the latest miss. It's a unique CD Peacock Time is Money token in silver. It was on hold when I saw it and sold now.

More importantly, have you scored a CRO hat yet?

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
@zoins I don't know if I should hit the LOL link (which would make it seem like I am laughing at your misfortune), the Like link (which would make it seem as if I like your misfortune), or the Agree link (which would make it seem like I am agreeing with your misfortune). I sure wish PCGS had a "I feel your pain" link!
Unfortunately no! There's too much competition! I watch his website but basically I need to get on his mailing list and watch it like a hawk!
Here's another one I still miss!
The same thing happened to me when I tried to buy something from CRO so you aren't the only one.

Nice marketing
Nice product
Nice website
Nice road reports
And one of the nicest guys you will ever meet.
I count him as a good friend . Nice.

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
Regarding the Roman Numeral 4 depicted on the clock as IIII. I was taught that a 4 was depicted/written as IV. Are both ways acceptable?
Good eye!
Here's an article on this:
WHY DO CLOCKS AND WATCHES USE THE ROMAN NUMERAL IIII INSTEAD OF IV?
Here's a Google Snippet from Facebook:
I saw that one but it was a bit too pricey for me. Being unique, it is hard to determine a fair value but it seems like it was priced where someone did scoop it up fairly quickly.
You can subscribe to the CRO early bird notifications and you will see the items as they are released. It’s easy and will increase your chances of seeing the items as they are first available.
I emphatically agree with Mark.
@Zoins, you need to get on his mailing list and watch it like a hawk!
That is a very cool token!
I know the feeling! I’ve picked up a few there along the way, and when I miss out on one, I say “Congrats to the new owner!” and trust that something will come along that’s an even better fit for me and usually does.
Eye Candy website notification for sure! I would like one of those Peacock Watch Dial tokens, but...you know...life's other priorities get in the way.

I’ve had my own issues with this but over time I’ve scored plenty of great coins there...... and a few hats too! CRO operates “the right way.”
John has never sent me a hat. I think he hates me.
Lance.
I think you have to request it. Or maybe we both are in the no-hat club.
You must spend more then you may get a sombrero.
There's a reason I have a rule in gmail specifically for the Early Bird emails to make sure they never get filtered somewhere that I won't see them as soon as they arrive.
I like the EB format, but you gotta be quick! Nothing worse then getting the second best email from John.
I don't know about others on the list, but my work productivity hits the floor around the time a new EB is supposed to drop. It's especially bad when I am in a meeting and checking for the email, then trying to scroll quickly through to see any must haves. Heaven forbid if I need to try to do some research surreptitiously on my phone!
Anyone else ever scroll through old Early Birds? As my interests have changed over the years I sometimes kick myself and say why didn't I buy that coin!
My current "Box of 20"
The moral of the story......folks like cool coins. John finds cool coins. Cool coins find John.

Why Cant all Coin Dealers be like John and his Wife? Well, the World isn't a perfect place, after all, is it?
I did score one day,, on a CRO Treasure. No hat . I was in a bit of a rush just to grab my Coin.
That peacock token is really great. I have admired them for years....Perhaps one day I will actually buy one...If I lived where there were actual coin shows and shops, I probably would have one already No rush...all things have their season.... Cheers, RickO
Nobody else sees the irony in the "Time is Money" token being the OP's latest manifestation of the CRO EB "You Snooze, You Lose" rule?
I've been bitten by that in the past as well, but I'm sure he'd be happy to know that most of my coins dated 1723 are from him.

Ergo, John is a cool coin. Err... Nevermind.
For some reason I always seem to see the EB email about an hour after it arrives so I also tend to find most of the coins claimed already. The intense feeling of relief that overcomes me when I realize there were no new coins listed that I need is hard to describe. I always enjoy the eye candy regardless.
This time, however, I didn't miss out. Can't wait to get my new bust quarter!

Get on the early bird list and get a cap as well. That is a nice HD peacock az well
I stop what I’m doing when the EB email comes in. I like to go back periodically through the day and see what sold and how fast. There is a lesson there and it’s fun to see if my predictions of quick sellers were right.
You have to be really quick on the early bird listings. I was lucky enough to get two items from one of their recent early birds but I contacted them within minutes of receiving the email and later found out that there were several people behind me for both items. I have purchased from them previously at shows and have two CRO hats that I wear often. Not only do they always have a fantastic inventory but they are also great people!

They have quite a few Doily coins!!!!
I got lucky early on. Didn't realize at the time what an event it was to 'connect'.
About 1/20 or so now.
His boxes are quite sturdy - great for 90%.
When I get the email, see a 'want' coin, I chuckle as I open the link for the expected 'on hold' label.
Sorry for my ignorance, but what/who is CRO?

One of the best in the business! I've met John in person at coin shows (what are they?) and he's very down to earth. I've gotten a few coins from him courtesy of the Early Bird emails, and missed many others. The latest miss was an outstanding toned 1820 AU-55 dime, never seen anything like it. Unfortunately 2 others before me saw it too.

Some people seem to look down on tracking dealer provenance for coins, but in the case of John, I think it's well deserved and I would love to know coins were handled by John via provenance.
I think he has written that in a few road reports, no?
He has written in a few road reports that he hates Lance? Dang, what ever did Lance do?

My coin arrived in record time. John is a great guy to do business with. Just wish I could afford to give him more business.

Oooooh, I was sorely tempted by that 1820. Gorgeous coin.
