So my dad has found 100 of these so far and was wanting to get some graded. My question is they all look MS high grade but some are cloudy. I bought a MS 66 to compare with and it was super bright and shinny. I was thinking it might have been dipped. Is this something that should be done or am I just completely wrong? If so what is the best idea or are they worth grading if they look cloudy but unhanded? This will be a first time grading experience is why I ask.

Without any photos it will be impossible to give you anything but very general thoughts. Do not dip them, if you need to remove some haze or circulation "stuff" I suggest an acetone bath. If they still look cloudy then I wouldn't submit.

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
I had a thought that the ones I found were “gradable “. I also bought some MS66’s and realized mine were not close to that grade. Maybe keep the best he finds, raw, and then sell the rest. Use those proceeds to purchase MS66’s already graded.

Grading depends on much more than 'bright and shiny' features. Look for quality of strike, dings, scratches, rub/wear....Those are critical to grade...Try posting a picture of one you think is high grade here...but be prepared for honest, constructive criticism of the coin. Cheers, RickO
K will get some photos .
Thanks!
Have handled couple of thousand of these things right out of bank rolls and have had over 800 graded. 95% will fall in the MS 64-65 range, mostly 65. Some will have what appears to be faint water spots. None will be perfect.
Occasionally one will find a struck trough surface:
Exit bunker, enter Matrix. LOL
That is what I have seen.
I did take one cloudier specimen and soaked it in a bit of ammonia and water (1:1 dilution), then rinsed it thoroughly and tamped dry. Cloudiness gone and coin with good luster. Kina 65ish.
I am OK with those - I just don't like the ones that are too marred up. Some have streaky alloy "wood grainish" stripes....
Well, just Love coins, period.
Nice story.
You're going to need a lot of popcorn on a dead thread...
How long do we have to wait? 🤣
Oh, never mind. Looks like the OP is gone or dead, or both!
I hope he's not dead! He was active tonight!
Oh, shoot sorry @handyman - Didn't mean to put you in the grave. I was looking at this and thinking it was your "Last Active" date.
Sorry! 🤬 😫
That's good @jmlanzaf, now we can get pictures! 🤣 😂
And @handyman doesn't know we're talking about him....................yet! 🤣
