Found this 1943 wheatie in an old collection. It is magnetic, but it is not your typical zinc color either. Rotated in the light, it has brighter copper colors on the high points where its been worn by circulation. I'm leaning toward a typical WWII issue 1943 since its magnetic. What do you think???

How could it be a copper cent and have different magnetic properties than other copper cents?

    You could also weigh it.

It's one of those recolored deals that were made and sold by the hundreds as a novelty.

Magnetic.... no further discussion needed. Unless laws of physics have somehow evolved due to coronavirus.

Come up with a plan to spend it. Maybe at a coin show, digging into your pocket to make exact change...dollar in change, 4 1s, a 5 and then 10s and 20s etc.

Specific gravity? I agree with @PerryHall that it is likely copper plated steel, but it looks better than an amateur job. I know there were many experimental pieces for the year but do not know a lot about them. I've never heard of copper plated experimental pieces but glass, plastic, and Bakelite. Before writing it off as PMD, I'd check RWB's book just in case.
