Just ran across one of my favorite First Strikes.
This was owned by Richard Eugene Cole, the last living member of the Doolittle Raid. It was signed and gifted to the Planes of Fame Air Museum in Chino, California.
The following pic shows both Lt. Col. James H. Doolittle, pilot and Lt. Richard E. Cole, co-pilot.

From left to right:
- Lt. Henry A. Potter, navigator
- Lt. Col. James H. Doolittle, pilot
- SSgt. Fred A. Braemer, bombardier
- Lt. Richard E. Cole, copilot
- SSgt. Paul J. Leonard, flight engineer/gunner

Wow!! What a piece of history.... Just to hold it would be an honor. Cheers, RickO
Very nice!
The only "first strike" the means anything.
Great looking medal. I read the thread thinking it was yours for a moment, but unless you've grown your fingernails out in quarantine, it appears it is now in strong hands.

That's way cool history. Something to be proud of for sure. I like
