Cherry picking varieties from TrueView images.

I like to look through TrueView images to try and find varieties.

Today I am finding an 1887 RPD-005 ( as defined in the book: Treasure Hunting Liberty Nickel Varieties)

Here is the TrueView of my MS63 example.

Here is a close up of the date to see the re-punched date.

I have found images for a MS65

And a MS66+

Wonder if these will show up at auction in the future. Something to look for.

Aren't those two TV images of the same coin? Rim nick over star 6, and a hit below and left of star 9 seem to be on both images. Was the ms66+ the later submission?

The 65 and 66+ are the same coin. Judging from the serial numbers, the 65 was graded after the 66+. Looks like a crackoutist got greedy and it didn't pay off. It will be graded again sometime soon.

Nice catch. I suspect you could buy the 66+ and not the 65. The serial numbers do not always determine which was graded first.
