Has anyone seen or have one of these in better shape? Trying to make out what’s in the aluminum.

Yes, they are available in a lustrous uncirculated. Presidential has had several in their auctions over the years. Going back a bit Hank Spangenberger had more than a couple for sale and in his auctions at various IKO Tams shows. A Maryland banjo dealer that dabbles in tokens has had several over time, there were a couple in the Hartzog estate, I've had a couple -- in other words they are available both in high grade and complete with the pin bar.

Thank you. This one will fill the spot till I can upgrade. Then I’ll move it to my sheet of 20 bimetallic examples.

The designs within the aluminum appear to be state seals: Indiana, Pennsylvania, Illinois, and California?

That is an interesting medal...Not common to see the bi-metals...Would like to see a high grade specimen. Cheers, RickO

Almost - Indiana, Pennsylvania, Illinois & Ohio, the Northern tier of the Eastern coal producing states that collectively had a slightly different view of the business world than did the Kentucky - Tennessee - Virginia - West Virginia quartet.

Ask and ye shall receive @ricko

    from The E-Sylum
Although this isn’t a coin, I was reminded of it when I read the comments on eccentric bimetallic coins in the last E-Sylum. It was issued for the 1904 Interstate Convention of Bituminous Coal Miners & Operators. The overall length is approximately 90mm, while the brass medal itself is 39mm. The four aluminum inserts are 13mm each; they depict the state seals of Indiana, Pennsylvania, Illinois, and Ohio.

Successful transactions with : MICHAELDIXON, Manorcourtman, Bochiman, bolivarshagnasty, AUandAG, onlyroosies, chumley, Weiss, jdimmick, BAJJERFAN, gene1978, TJM965, Smittys, GRANDAM, JTHawaii, mainejoe, softparade, derryb, Ricko

Bad transactions with : nobody to date
