Glendale Coin Club Meeting Online - May 8, 2020 @ 7pm Pacific - You're all Invited!!!

Our club held it's first online meeting last month on my YouTube channel and it seemed to go over well. Sure, it's not quite the same as meeting in person, but there are some pros to holding a meeting online as well. During the live meeting, we had up to 85 people watching concurrently from all over the country (even some from other countries). And since the meeting, over 500 people have watched the meeting replay which is really cool.

MEETING TIME – Friday, May 8, 2020 @ 7:00 PM Pacific on YouTube

We will be having the program which will be presented by Greg Allen and he will be presenting "What’s Going On at the Coin Show." The program will go over the inner workings of a coin show, including pre-shows, dealer setup, public hours, auctions, and the evening dinners. Greg has done this talk along with Jeff Garrett at the ANA World’s Fair of Money in Chicago and our club is lucky to have him speak to our group. Greg Allen is out of Minnesota and he began collecting coins in 1971, and formed Greg Allen Coins, LLC, in 2004. His company attends 30+ shows a year, including the ANA’s World’s Fair of Money, Florida United Numismatic, Long Beach Expos, Whitman Expos, and Central States Numismatic Society shows. He is a member of many numismatic organizations, including the PNG.

To just watch the live meeting, you will be able to do so from just about any phone or computer. There will also be a live text chat window during the live video stream, but you will need to have a YouTube account to participate in that part. With that chat room, you will be able to talk to those of us who will be on screen, as well as ask questions to our guest speaker. You will also be able to chat with all of the others there in the chat too.

Please feel free to share this information and the link with anyone and everyone you think might enjoy hanging out and chatting about coins for an hour or two.

Finally, there will be a few coin giveaways during this meeting... including some of our new 2019 Glendale Coin Club medals which were recently done for us by Daniel Carr. To be eligible for the giveaways you must be logged into YouTube and participate in the live text chat; otherwise we won’t know you are there.

We will also try to have a short auction at the end of the meeting where we will auction off some coins, mostly silver bullion pieces, with all proceeds benefiting the club.

7pm Pacific would be 10pm East coast time... but if you can't watch while we're live, that link will be good afterwards too to watch it at any time.

It was very well executed. And it can be huge. I can see viewers around the world joining Glendale Coin club remotely and purchase a club medal once there is enough online exposure.

Even before the quarantine and isolation, how often do we hear collectors were unable to find a local club to join? And how often do we hear people were unable to attend club meeting due to the schedule? Members now have the choice to join live or watch later.

Yes, I've gotten a bit of feedback from some hoping that we continue to do meetings online even after we're able to have regular meetings again, might be a way to do that, we'll see!
