I’ve started another album— 1st spouse medals.

This probably won’t get too many likes but they actually all do look pretty cool together. I am missing the pricier of the issues so I will just have to bite the bullet to complete this album at some point.

I agree - they look pretty cool!
I knew it would happen.
Nice!
One strategy is to look for lots or even slabbed ones. I once got a chunk of the set all in PCGS holders for very little as the auction lot was overlooked. I decided against completing the set, but it is a fun project (and more affordable than the gold versions).
I like your collection. My guess is that you are a student of the antebellum period in American history....... I have a similar set. I paid too much for the Jefferson, Jackson, and Van Buren. In gold. No regrets! Sometimes you just got to do what you want to do! Your set is wonderful!
It is really neat to see all the designs. And that is one of my favorite history periods. I bet the Van Buren in gold is stunning!
Thanks— I’ll have to give that a try. I have all of them except for the key date sets of 2013 and 2014. If I remember right 2014 was only on sales for what seemed like a couple of months.
Looks impressive.
Nice looking set...Collect what interests you and not for the 'likes'....Cheers, RickO
Yep the 2014 was available for a short time. Then it was available a few months later for just one day.

And an article from when they were released:

I just started adding the First Spouse bronze medals to my "100 Greatest Women on Coins" set in set registry. It's a lot less expensive than gold first spouse coins. How many 2013 sets were minted? 7500?
Who makes the album? It looks rather nice.
The 2014 had 7,500 which quickly sold out. A few months later another 3,150 were sold to give a total of 10,650.
The 2013 set sold out but I can't find any record of how many were sold (the mint might not have reported the number).

There is nothing wrong with collecting medals. Your set will probably look very impressive in that album.
Looks like one of these Whitman Albums:

It’s a Whitman album, I think it ran about $23.
Those 2013 Medals are averaging $150-ish on ebay
update: medals are not allowed in the set registry "100 Greatest Women on Coins" It's a rich man's set.

They look great against the black.
I thought about doing an album of these long back and haven’t done it yet.
It’s about the only one I wanted to do an album off. Otherwise I’m a type collector.
Nice!

Are any of the bronze medals worth anything? My first wife collected women on coins, and when the First Spouses started I was putting away a Proof gold of each and my wife a BU gold of each just as a way of accumulating gold, and since they were in the SDB I also got her the bronze medals in the Whitman album that she could keep at home and look at. Then she died and I got rid of everything, but I think I have a few of the medals in a box somewhere.
yeah, the 2013 and 2014 have low mintages.
That's a nice looking set in an album! Might have to consider that one one day.

Pretty cool. I started these in 2007 and I have thru 2011. I gave up on them after that.
