J Höhn Jesus

This medal shows Jesus between his Parents Maria and Joseph. On reverse, kneeing Saint Ignace looks at Christus in the sky.
Copper, 53 / 39 mm, 35.90 g. The German or Polish medal is signed I H, perhaps Johann Höhn, who has been working in Danzig and Berlin during the 17th century. The engraving can be 17Th for a later struck.

Interesting piece! Looks like either a cud or a folded over piece of finning on the second image at 6:30. (Is finning the right term?). I also wonder how or why the loop for hanging was made as it was since it disturbs the design on both sides.

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

Is that plated copper? Or is the picture deceptive? Cheers, RickO

The medal is 4 mm thick and the blanket was probably punch cut and cut lines are visible on the edge. The loop is part of the blanket and it probably was holed after the cut. The surplus of metal at 6:30 is due to a die edge break.

Thank you... So it must be the lighting, because that looks like silver in the picture. Cheers, RickO
