**CAC Update** PCGS Rattler certified by NCI
Picked two of these up the other day. Sold one but I'm hanging on to this one. I've never seen one before. I can't understand why anyone would have done it but I'm happy to add it to my oddball collection. Has anyone else seen or have a photo certified slab?

I used to see them at coin shows in the PNW....Never purchased any since I am not a slab collector...Cheers, RickO
They did it for the same reason people send PCGS slabbed coins to CAC. To get a second opinion.
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.
I noticed the one listed on ebay when it first popped up. As for others, I've seen it occur occasionally with PCGS and ICCS certified coins that typically have Canadian issues.

Someone was just checking out the new "system" of comparing grading services, etc.

Interesting! I agree, it would be funny to add a CAC sticker as well.
Wish I had a CAC account because I have a whole lot of coins in need of being beaned.
Cool I have not seen this combo before, I guess the Kool-Aid crowd wasn't in full effect back then.
As a side note there are many here that could help you with sending coins to CAC, the downside is the extra postage involved if nobody is close to you.

ICG or ICCS? I have at least one Canadian PL dollar with dual certification.

D'oh! I meant ICCS! I'll go back and edit in the correction. Thank you!

Here's an oddball I picked up at a local coin show a couple months ago. Professional Numismatic Grading Laboratory. The bottom two coins are the obverse/reverse pictures of the coin. There's also a raised PNGL seal, half of it is on the black part and half is on the certificate. The guy I bought it from had eight more I should have probably bought.
I dug out a PCGS/ICCS dual cert PL dollar. Seems to fit this thread well. Purchased at the 2005 Torex auction in Toronto. The ICCS portion is the cert half of the flip only. (For those that haven't seen ICCS graded coins, they are very similar to the old David Hall flips.) ICCS tends to be a little tougher than PCGS - or at least they were back then. ICCS has three levels of cameo: Cameo, Heavy Cameo, and Ultra Heavy Cameo.

Think about it. Isn't that a sad commentary on the state of the US coin market.
What's sad is that there was and still is an important role for CAC in the US coin market.
I remain hopeful that future third party grading will no longer need CAC.
The best graders are necessary to maintain accurate, consistent, high standards.
IMHO, JA has some of the best graders in the business.
Here's one that I picked up last year...

Not really, times and habits change, some collectors want the profit from, the status of or they need the "security" of a CAC sticker due to there lack of grading acumen, I don't see anything wrong with that. My main reason for wanting them is to maximize their value. If something were to happen to me or a financial calamity were to happen it would help to maximize the sale price. Some people buy the coin, some the holder I make every attempt to buy the best coin in the most sought after holder at the lowest price and with a little effort have been very successful. The bean is just a value bonus. I am sure I have some gold bean worthy coins and boy does that put it in another price point! Sad, maybe for some but things change. Fortunately there is plenty of room for different styles of collecting in the hobby.
I couldn’t have said it better. You should apply to CAC for an account
The process is very easy. I have had good results. Their service is top notch also
Fun stuff, thanks for sharing, haven't seen that before, ha!

UPDATE: Recently I sent in my first CAC submission with this dime included. @btcollects was quite correct and it's no longer painful to look at. Results are in... GOLD Bean for this 1941-D!

Will post a photo when it arrives back home.
If anyone has or finds one of these I'm defiantly interested!
Cheers
Congrats on the gold bean!! Getting a gold bean is not an easy task.

@coinbuf Thanks, I thought I did well, I sent in 20 slabs and 5 came back with gold beans and 10 with green beans.
You did quite well, I had similar results back when I was cherry picking my collection to send in, my last two have not been quite as stellar
. This 1940 dime of mine also in a rattler received a gold bean too.

That's a beautiful dime as well.
I agree with cherry picking, this being my 1st submission I expected a gold or two but I was surprised at 5. I don't expect those kind of results again.
Too bad that CAC doesn't take ANACS in for consideration.
