Interesting - wasn't me.
Looks like you were the 3rd bidder at $174.99. Same bidder bid both.
It wasnāt me either.
Yes it was me.
There where Badges done that year and a money clip but no Medals according to the ANA archives if you look at the top of the reverse photo it doesnāt look right

Here are the images so we still have them after the listing disappears.
I also put in a bid but didn't win. I did notice the top of the reverse looked strange, like a key fob attachment had been removed.
I have a key fob, money clip and some restrikes. The edge of the key fob does look smaller inside the fob attachment like shown here so this being a modified key fob isn't completely unfounded, but it appears this way on both sides whereas this piece only appears this way on one side. It would need to be examined in hand. I'll have to keep hunting for an original medal.
Kinda looks like it's in a holder wherein the image edge was photoshopped and trimmed. IMO. Peace Roy

I dropped what I thought was a decent bid but in the end didnāt come close on this one. A couple folks wanted it bad.

Very nice.... These beaver tokens, coins and medals are sure becoming popular....Cheers, RickO
That's a decent amount for an altered piece. The high bidder might think that it might be an unlisted H&K piece but the numismatic tie in should have squelched that thought. On the other hand several de-looped and de-fobbed medals such as HK-657 & HK-673 are already firmly entrenched in H&K. Some champions of this series swear that they have seen examples of these two that never had fobs or loops (with some in holder!) but I have yet to see one that hasn't been altered.
The winner of the current piece might just like gold facsimiles, the fur trader aspect of beaver money or might just be un-handy like myself and unable to create his own DIY round version.
Not sure what I would have done if I won and found it to be altered. Maybe it will pop up somewhere I would love to examine it see if itās the real deal. Like I said the ANA doesnāt like a medal that year so if real itās a discovery piece

Okay, so there were 8 bidders on this, of which 5 are on this forum and thread. Who knew the forum was 57% of the market!
.
.
. More often then one would think. Many times this forum can shift collecting one way or another. Many
may disagree but, I check on certain things and yep.....it does.

Congrat~
D'oh! We're 62.5% of the market!
I was looking at the wrong quick response on Google.
Okay here are some pictures I am at work and just used my work camera. But it appears to have some damage around the rim not sure what the correct diagnosis would be. I will let the proffessionals tell me.
Here is a few more under the camera stand.
Removal marks above the S of Anniversary and the second T of State right where the fob shoulders would be. Was the damage mentioned in the auction?
Tokenpro this is what was written in the original sale description. Nothing metioning about any damage.
1959 Portland Oregon ANA Convention Coin Show Token. American Numismatic Association O.T. 1849 68th Annual Convention Portland, Oregon August 26-29, 1959. 100th Anniversary State Of Oregon 1859-1959 Oregon Exchange Company 10.D 20.G Native Gold D-Ten.D Facsimile Beaver Money Oregon Numismatic Society. Buyer pays $2.95 postage. South Carolina residents add 8% sales tax.
I don't think here is much doubt that a loop was removed from this piece.
However, the pictures don't conclusively indicate if the loop was cut off BEFORE or AFTER it was struck.
The normal fobs would have been produced as looped blanks and then struck.
It would be possible to trim or grind a loop off prior to striking.
For those that have these medals, please post a picture of the edge at 6:00 (directly opposite the loop).
Bummer I was really hoping we had a test piece maybe a one off die testing. I didnāt look at the return policy hoping you can return it!

If you open the picture in a new tab it is huge. Excellent photo gluggo. This area where the grinding burr is above a struck area convinces me:
Collector, occasional seller
Yes, that looks like grinding after it was struck.
So I can call this post modification/damage as the correct analysis buy all the Experts/ Knowledable/ Pro's here. I am impressed by everybody and thank you.
As for the Photo Mr. Ray I bought his #10 Camera Stand http://www.macrocoins.com/
and he was very helpful in showing me how to use my camera! But thank you!
Yes. Afraid so.
So an update I was able to send the damaged medal back for a full refund, which looks like it was made with a ribbon attached. But someone removed it and there was some damage. Thanks to everybody who gave their input.
Now the medal did come back for auction and well yes I had to re-bid it cause it just felt so good but at a much reduced bid.
Here is some actual information on the medal,

Coins are fun,
Same one I sent it back for a refund due to the damage and not as advertised by the seller. Won it back when they relished it. It felt so good in hand š Had to try and win it back but this time at 1/4 the original bid. Thank you to Steve Hayden for being a HONEST and TRUSTWORTHY SELLER!
It was the same the guy put in the listing about the post mint damage
