Hi guy's. Thanks for checking out my strange thread. Lol. Wanted to post (to me) a nice '64 Proof Set for a few reasons. I broke it out of the cello prison. Two of the coins seemed to be Cameo. One coin has a colorful flair and the Kennedy seemed to have tone appearance only in the portrait and Eagle. Then, my second part of the thread, shows my new pics from my new Nikon. I wanted to get you're opinions on both parts. Thanks guy's in advance.
Warning: Many photos. First are from my phone.
Cameo?
Tone Q.
Kennedy tone?
Now my new Camera Pics.
These I took with my scope , not my new camera.

A good first attempt! Two things that will help you out a lot: custom white balance and more light.
Your manual will have the details on how to do it but the best thing you can do is to get a blank piece of paper and calibrate your camera to the light you’re using. It’s super easy and makes a huge difference.
The second is to get more light. One light isn’t enough and often 2 or 3 lights does a much better job of lighting the coin. It really helps make the image pop more.
Bonus third: macro lenses are great. They are sharp and if you set it on f8 you’ll get plenty of sharpness and you can get more of a single coin in the frame which improves the quality of the result.
Nice job and have a fun time!

What is the model number of your new Canon camera?
That nice! That's something I always wanted to do ... take good pics. You will be learning some good stuff here ... I guarantee it!
1) Get a tripod/copy stand if possible
2) Set timer in camera to take image seconds after initiating shutter to reduce shake
3) Tripod allows for slower shutter speed and cheating for a bit more light as well as f8/f16 means depth of field
4) Try it in natural light near a window
5) Shoot in manual mode for full control
6) Shoot a white piece of paper or buy a gray card. Helps white balance in post production. This can be done in camera as well.

All the first pics are from my phone. The ones in the Whitman holder.

It probably only has auto white balance, so it will help to have a white or grey background and sunlight or incandescent light.
Results look decent, except it's clear the holders should be white but the auto white balance is making them different
colors like purple and light brown.
Thanks I'll try later to take better pics with all you guys advise. Using the same coins.

This pic I took about 4 weeks ago with my scope. I had this topic on a thread about that very same question. We concluded it was some debris on it. Some think it came from the cellophane in the proof envelope? I tried to remove with a acetone soak, to no avail though. Also, a spot on the reverse too.
