Eternal thanks to the QuarterMeister, I mean Quarter Master . . . . .
I admit, the coded message on this one has me flummoxed. I keep picking my brain, but it's meaning is a bit fuzzy. My attempts at decoding it have not been very fruitful. I would like to cobbler together an appropriate guess, but the thought of being wrong has left me in the pits.
Anyway, I know y'all are a lot smarter and can probably figure it out. My intent was to just thank @lordmarcovan and the Quarter Master for the kind gift and for lowering the bar enough to admit the Hamlet Squire of Tomfoolery . . . .
But seriously. They're counterstamped and then spent. Why would the person responsible want it back? You are the owner.
I'm hoping he'll see my return address, see all the hard work i put in, and maybe he'll put me on the mailing list.
I actually won a contest over on CT that won me 8 or 10 of these. I realized, they're not meant to be kept. I release all I've found, as well. Except for this one. This one is his.
How could this thread just end all of a sudden? You guys got something better to do? Not possible. This is awesome! I found a Connecticut quarter with five numbers in it. I believe they are 06320. I’ll post pictures later. Anyways, I was hoping it was some experimental coin from the mint, but honestly I think this is even cooler. Plus does nobody notice that last commenter is most likely the quartermaster?! That Hass to be you isn’t it sir? If it is thank you very much for adding another cool twist to my numismatic dealings. I’m gonna start tracking these things down. Let me know if I can be any assistance. And just a heads up, I recently moved to the springs, and the street has a royal title. 😏
I've been finding them regularly for years in rolls here in the Denver area.
I've been told I may have a larger collection of them than the folks who've managed to get on the QuarterMasters mailing list lol.
I still sure would love to get on that list somehow
I've posted many of them in other forums but never spotted this thread.

Ah yes...the NJ quarter. The pun is that a Jersey is a kind of cow, so a "new Jersey" is a "young cow".
Awesome! I kick started it back up and running again! I love it. I figured out the new London Connecticut connection pretty quick. Not sure where to go from there. Thanks jbk !
Does anyone else think there was something a little mysterious about the comment just before mine? At the time when I first saw it I really felt like it could be the quarter master. I’m sure he’s reading this thread whoever he is. I’d be shocked if he hasn’t commented.
Kurisu, that’s good to hear your finding so many in Denver. I found mine in a coin dozer in Colorado Springs so maybe there’s been a lot let into the wild around here. I hope so. How many have you found roll hunting? I’m actually taking a break from a case of Franklin half’s as I’m typing this. Found what I think is a missing clad layer with a large die chip (1974), hoping it’s not environmental… but I digress. I’m stoked to see this thread moving again! Thanks to those who got it going to begin with, (thanks again JBK). I love this topic! I really hope this wasn’t just something they did to keep busy during quarantine/ Covid days. I love collecting all sorts of coins so these quarter notes are another cool variety to look for as far as I’m concerned.
To The Quarter Master, if you need recruits I’m up for it. I’ll start punching quarters today. Just say the word!

Im pretty sure this is how I’m supposed to comment on a previous comment. I’m very new to “chating online” / posting on threads, as you will probably notice. so I apologize in advance if I am not following any normal protocols.
I’m starting to notice some things about the quarter notes program. Not sure that’s it’s supposed to be a secret or anything but I think I’ve narrowed down the area they originated from for sure. I also think I may have identified this quarter master fellow . (It’s not my original guess but I do think I was correct about them commenting in the thread) but I’m gonna keep my suspicions to myself for now.
I followed this back to the earlier thread referencing stamped quarters and the person finding them said he was in the “Rocky Mountain, western state’s region” . (I believe it was ifthisvanzarockin or something close to that.) and now we have you (kurisu) finding them in Denver and me in Colorado Springs. So it’s become pretty obvious that a lot of them have been let out into the wild here in the wild Rocky Mountains. But where it becomes even more clear cut is the Colorado quarter that is stamped “1/4 notes”. Again, I don’t know if this was supposed to be a secret or if it’s already a known fact but I’m either case it’s something to consider. Good news for me I guess. I can’t believe I’ve only found one considering I’ve looked closely at so many thousands of quarters in the last five years. Hopefully I’ll find some more some how!
Any of you guys think there’s anything to be gained from this info? Jbk..?

It's not a scientific study, but I will say that a majority of the ones I've seen on ebay over the years have been from sellers in the northwest.
@JBK , ok thanks. That’s good to know. Especially coming from you! I was doing some more research and looking around on others sites. Man!, you’ve been at it for a while! I never knew about counter stamping in general until my Connecticut quarter and this thread. I just started getting into it and I saw so many Colorado connections so I was pretty excited thinking I was bound to run into a lot more. Between the fact that I play the coin dozers a lot and that I look closely at every coin I come into contact with. But that’s just not the case. I don’t know how some people are doing it! Haven’t seen anyone mention a letter from the quarter master in quite a while. I hope he’s still at it 🤞When was the last time you heard anything? Anyone?

I received another from the QuarterMaster about a month ago. He's still at it. I've just been off the forum for a while with a few medical and work issues.

@ZoidMeister Congrats! Thanks for posting them!
I have no clue what they mean, maybe some other members can help out.
Off the top of my head, the Indiana quarter has the Roman numerals for 805 km.
How long is that car race they have there?
I think you nailed it.
Indianapolis 500
500 miles = 804.672 km
The roman numeral DCCCV is 805
I edited my post - I knew that. No idea why the typo!
So far, so good.
I know the meaning for the Iowa quarter but I won't spoil it for y'all . . .

I found this one a few weeks ago, and I'd like to return it to it's owner.
Looks like an original. Anyone know how to snail mail the infamous "QuarterMaster"?
It's mine. Send it to me.

06320 is New London, CT. Not sure of the reference.

Interesting thread. I didn't know these existed.
@dcarr Will you be placing them into circulation in any quantity?
Or selling samples?
