I just found a second quarter with a countermark.
The Utah one I found about a year ago and posted it here on another thread.
I wonder how many different states and how may of each state was produced. Anyone else have one?

I think mine is more graffiti than countermark.

Those are personalized marks and only the individual that made them would be able to say how many he/she made. No numismatic value. Maybe in 100 years some collectors will want them. Cheers, RickO
like ric said, not produced but individually stamped. Note the placement of each letter in relation to the others. It indicates each letter was made with and individual punch, one letter at a time. Most machinists have such a set of individual punches that they strike with a hammer.

The OP's quarters are part of the "Quarter Notes" project. It is a surrepticious project and has encompassed dozens of different state quarters.
The tool used is a changeable type holder/punch, so although the letters are ever so slightly misaligned, they would be consistent coin to coin.
I think the meaning of the Utah message was figured out when you first posted it (?), but I do not at first glance know the meaning of the TN quarter yet.
Out of curiosity, what part of the country are you in? I have several of these, mostly from eBay, but I have never found one in the wild.
Thanks @JBK
A quick Google search for "Quarter Notes" brings up a bunch of music related stuff. Anywhere to find more info?

Mind showing what you have?
It took a while but I was able to find the thread from before.

Here are a few more of mine. I have more which I will post in the future.
The meaning of some of the messages is obvious, while others take quite a bit of analysis to figure out.
On a Utah quarter: "-K TOO MUCH"
On an Arkansas quarter (stamped underneath the diamond): "IN THE ROUGH"
On an Illinois quarter: " SICK N LOUD"
Here is a rarity - a Quarter Notes counterstamp on a dollar coin: "MARKETING EXCELLENCE"
This coin was meant as an award; the obverse shows the recipient's name, which has been kept confidential.
Thanks JBK
Maybe some of the sharp minds around here can figure a few of them out.
so I'm thinking about having a die made up that says:
Houck's
Panacea
Baltimore
and stamping moderns and releasing them to the wild, just to see how long it would take for someone to post them here.
Trying to find a suitable indoor hobby.
Is Lincoln wearing a N95 mask? Very current...
Nice! I haven't found any of those yet.
If you are going to stamp EXCELLENCE on a coin, shouldn't the letters be aligned?

The "Diamond in the rough" was an easy one.
The Illinois "Sick n Loud"
Might be referring to the stampers opinion of farms/city or agriculture/industry in the State.
Sick is below the farm and Loud is below the city skyline.
The Utah "-K Too Much" or = Okay too much.
Might be referring to stampers opinion on religious control over Government & laws. (drinking laws)
Just a few dumb guesses....cuz I'm not very good at figuring this stuff out.
I do not know about the quarters but.................I know there were only 13 of these made.
Successful transactions with : MICHAELDIXON, Manorcourtman, Bochiman, bolivarshagnasty, AUandAG, onlyroosies, chumley, Weiss, jdimmick, BAJJERFAN, gene1978, TJM965, Smittys, GRANDAM, JTHawaii, mainejoe, softparade, derryb
Bad transactions with : nobody to date
Just found a new one.
.
I wonder if anyone can figure out this one?
I’ve made a few of these. Mostly I stamp out names on half oz silver dog bones for people whose pets have passed.
Found another "Quarter Notes"
I have no idea what this one could mean......anyone else have a guess?
ANOTHER ONE??? You have the golden touch.
I can answer....
It is a reference to the state's name in a play on words.
"Rhode Island" becomes "Road Island", and a median strip is an island in the road. I have also seen "Roundabout" on RI quarters.
Thanks for the great answer! I never would have figured that one out.
If you find another one you have that you can add to the thread you might find the RI in your mail box.
Here is a straight-forward one, made in the COVID-19 era:
Wouldn't an armored car service or the federal reserve bank take these coins out of circulation If found?
How would they find them? They work in machines and coin counters.
Wow! Thanks for posting that, I didn't realize they were still making them.
The armored carrier and Federal Reserve counting machines must have have a reject bin similar to Coinstar.
But they don't reject. They are the proper weight and size. The distortion is not enough to make them rejectable.
You take too much
ILL NOISE, sick and loud
Road is land median
You have lost me.
I can figure out Illinois = ill noise = sick and loud (counterstamp)
I already knew the RI slogans.
What does "you take too much" mean?
Maybe it is UTAH (state on quarter) plus "-K" = "you talk" ?
That makes the message "you talk too much". ?
BTW, good work on the Illinois. That one was pretty convoluted.
You talk.....that's it....my mind went to taxes for some reason 🥴
Found another "Quarter Notes"
My grandfather would refer to Illinois as Sickpest (Ill + Annoy).

That's downright unfair. You are apparently in the middle of the pipeline.
Waumbeck is a mountain in NH. I'll have to give the meaning more thought as at first glance it seems a bit too obvious.
I've got some more from the Quarter Notes program.
Got mine in the mail, not from circulation. From the shadowy "Quarter Master" himself, it would seem. If you ever get mail from Quarter Notes, OPEN IT! Not only will there almost always be a counterstamped quarter inside, but on more than one occasion I found a crisp, new, totally real $100 bill as well! And I know someone else who got a $50. So this mysterious person is pretty generous. Crazy? Maybe. But I like his brand of crazy. He can send me mail anytime. I truly have no idea who he is.
Anyway, here are the ones I have.
(2) 1999-P Delaware: "HORSE IN A ROUND"
(1) 1999-P Georgia: "500M PEOPLE"
(1) 1999-P Connecticut: "HAD A BLAST IN MIANUS"
(1) 2005-P Kansas: "FLATTEN THE CURVE"
(1) 2005-P West Virginia: "MADE DURING QUARANTINE"
(1) 2006-D South Dakota: "SPEED UP"
(1) 2007-P Wyoming: "RED CHINA RED HANDS"
(1) 2008-P Hawaii: "GET LEI'D"
@lordmarcovan Thanks for posting these to the tread!
The "Quarter Master" should send me a quarter for finding the most out of circulation. LOL
I am averaging about 1 per 100,000 coins.....they are not easy to find.
I am kind of surprised a random person has not posted here from a search on the web.
I agree, but I think I know why.
I search on ebay for counterstamps and finding listings by non-collectors is very difficult. They don't know the lingo (counterstamp/countermark).
Got a random letter from the quarter master after I found my Michigan j frog quarter! What a awesome amazing human! Thank you to the shadow quarter counter stamper!
I
I was the one that had a hard time posting this guy at first 😂
@wartty25 Welcome to the forum!
Thanks for posting your finds!
@ifthevamzarockin thank you so much! Your funds are great too! The quarter master is awesome, I found the Michigan in change two weeks ago and he already done how found my info and sent me another!
Here's one. I have not definitively figured out the connection yet.
It is a Montana quarter stamped MT HEADED.
I'm not understanding how this quartermaster is finding all yalls addresses 🤷♂️
Well, I haven’t found any but these are kinda neat. I wonder how many have been done altogether?
TurtleCat Gold Dollars
@JBK Thanks for posting!
Just a dumb guess..... a mounted head.
Edited to add: LOL .... Headed .... Ooops try again .... told ya it was a dumb guess
@wartty25
Yours might be Michigan J. Frog
Actually, I think the answer is in there somewhere. I was thinking along the same lines, but have not quite nailed it down yet.
@JBK Okay, are ya ready for my next dumb guess?
Maybe the Quarter Master is a fan of MT Danielson's writing???
Empty Headed. Not much inside a skull.

That sounds good to me, I think ya got it!
I knew someone with more brains than me would get it.
Thx! I am sure that's it.
