Animated coin gif

Posted the below $10 gold recently, and expressed in that thread the challenge of capturing an accurate image.
As I'm playing around with my cell phone (Samsung Galaxy S9) I found some Gif and Video options and thought it would be neat to try out. I have seen this before, not an original concept.
Unfortunately the Gif option doesnt allow any selection for resolution / quality. So the image is kinda low-fi. A video slide show came out better but not sure how to post that.
My image is below. Anyone else try this? Any tips? Post your gifs!

Indeed I have!
Basically took a series of images with the light at different angles, then created a gif with them on ezgif.

Please share the gif and video options you are referring to, and your process of getting the animated gif shown. I have an S9, but never thought to look for this kind of option. Might like to play! Thx!
Rocking my "shiny-object-syndrome"!!!
Chris - nice images. Much better than mine. I will have to look into ezgif.
Eric, on the S9 you go to the Gallery app, select the 3 vertical dots on the right (...) and then choose "Create gif." It asks you to select images. You will need several pictures of the same coin without moving it. I made mine by moving a light source around the coin. You cant edit the gif very much, but still something to play with. I am always testing the limits of my phone camera with coins.

I've often used gif makers to establish the die variety of difficult to attribute coins.
Lance.
I made my first super crude gif the other day, messing around with my S8.

That is an excellent way to show luster on a coin...some nice options there. Maybe someday, when I am old and gray (wait a minute.... I am )...I will try those tricks with my phone....Cheers, RickO
Nice!
I've done this several times, but with my normal photo setup, not a phone.

Messydesk those look great. The phone method is very fast / easy, but obviously doesn't yield the same quality results.

Thanks! Obviously a phone isn't going to duplicate a dedicated setup for this, but 10-12 years ago phones weren't really viable for doing still coin pictures at all.
