OT and Rule Violating Posts

Hello All,
I know that current events have led to a lot of anxiety and people staying in, thus more activity on the forum. However, this does not excuse violations of the rules regarding off-topic and political posts which seem to be running rampant. While we have yet to issue any bans. We will be issuing 3-point warnings which will block violators from posting new discussions for a period of time.
This is a coin forum, and while information is important, this is not the correct medium for updates and discussions about the virus and these posts have been getting out of hand with political debate and even some racist comments. I ask that you all please assist me in keeping the peace.
Thank you, I wish you and your families good health.

Heather,
Best wishes to you & yours and all the PCGS family. Stay safe.
Thank you for your patience & understanding with the members here.

You have a tough job to keep the content on the boards in control and you do a great job.
Thank you for the reminder...

it's understandable that people will panic over something they have no control over and don't understand, happens a lot and yes thanks for putting up with that heather, now back to coin talk shall we?

Thank you.

I would like to see everything about the virus and the market or anything associated with it be gone!
A lot or most of the comments are over reacting and not needed here!
How about a new update of your dog? Is he/she still small enough to hold?
I'll share a Butter update tonight if I have time

you can’t spell Coronavirus without coins
Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
Hear, hear! Stay safe!
I personally think having a dedicated coronavirus thread would be appropriate right now. Possibly sticky it to the top? We are a community of friends and similar thinking individuals, and this is a (hopefully) once in a life time pandemic. It is natural to wonder how our friends are holding up and what the latest is in their communities. I guarantee the folks at PCGS are talking about it as well, and keeping their employees informed. Sure, give warnings or bannings for getting political in the thread, but I think having a stickied thread is totally appropriate right now. Just my opinion (hopefully does not get me warned, lol.) Thanks!
I have to agree with this! We are a very diverse group here. I was finding out more current information as it was released here than I could anywhere else I visit!
I thought it was very therapeutic. I thought it might save some of us from therapy. Then again some could use therapy in the worst way
It was a good release. Sorry that it can’t be discussed further. Interesting times we live in
I wish Heather would reconsider and let us have one general thread on the subject but she’s the boss. I respect that.

I see nothing wrong with coronavirus discussions. It's the political garbage that some of these evolve into.
They are apparently very serious about non coin discussions.
HAPPY COLLECTING
With the coin industry being my full time business, I was learning more on here about what was going on in the coin world because of the virus, then I was getting via emails and phone calls. Unfortionatly some of it did turn political but..... maybe there could be a warning for those people and just one thread to allow true talk about this virus.
HAPPY COLLECTING
Looking forward to a better Butter bulletin!
Lance.
Yes, I agree. This is a place to come to and relax. And to enjoy our hobby. Let's all work to keep it that way. Forget the nonsense everyone.........THIS IS A COIN FORUM.
P.S. I have been guilty of bringing non- coin related subjects up concerning the current events. No more. Let's all work together and do as DIMEMAN says........the upside?......more posts about 1982 parking lot find pennies! That's way better!!!!!!!!!!!
why worry about what you all can't control and have no clue about in the first place? focus on things you can control like coins and banknotes, don't lose focus here people this is a site for coins and such , it needs to be kept as such if you want to worry about things you all can't control goto another site and do that

I have usually tried to show sympathy for the terrible trials people sometimes go through and admit the Covid 19 discussions are off topic. It would probably be hard to open up a subforum for those affected here and send all such discussions there. Not even my senators or congressman have a new topic section for this virus when emailing them. Hopefully everyone stays safe with the unprecedented disruptions.
I hear you!
But, then again maybe Justacommeman has a good point. I read his posts. He's concerned about people who are not so well off as he is. Good for him. I feel the same way. Maybe there's a middle ground. What can we do to help? Let's think about it.
Maybe the testing forum can handle some OT posts

Good idea. Just keep it on the down low.
Speaking of Coronavirus and coins, I wonder how long the germs can survive on a coin?
Even this thread is getting hijacked.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
I think it's called being
informed. For example: I cannot control the clouds or the sun but I've learned not to lay out too long on a sunny afternoon with a clear sky!
AFAI have heard, it can remain on a surface for a very long time. That should apply to circulating money.
Isn't silver an anti viral/bacterial metal???
Good stuff.
Just wondering if there will be another disruption in the silver American Eagle proof series this year, as was the case in 2009; for a few reasons. No anxiety here.
That's bad for me. Really bad. You see I sleep in a bed of money every night. I do toss and turn but I awake refreshed and vigorous knowing I'm rolling in the dough.
It’s ok. I’m being bombed via the PM function. Maybe it’s better that way.
I don’t feel like taking about coins. There will probably be a time I do in the future.

Tonight I am shifting my attention from the Coronavirus to quaffing a Corona with a lime wedge while spending a little time with my collection.
What!?! no politics?
I can't abide by these rules

Ha ha! So now this has become the virus thread!
Yup.

Do you want a coin forum, or do you want a community of people who share an interest in coins?
I guess that is the real question here.
"It's like God, Family, Country, except Sticker, Plastic, Coin."
Agree
I am in total agreement of the separation regarding Heathers statement.
On a brighter note, I listen to a sports channel while at work every day.
No plugs here.
But the topic was , "what are you doing during this black out of all sports related activities".
On the air I was invited to give a shout out of Collectors Universe as my sports escape time spent.
I did plug the helpfullness of the members and, our/your, visitors.
By the way my eyes are green. ?
LOL
COOL?
...I just put half a can of whip cream on-top a massive bowl of rocky road...I’m like Chunk from the goonies down here in the mancave
Thanks for the reminder.... will endeavor to stay within the guidelines.....
Cheers, RickO
The medical "ex-pert" on the radio doctor (LOL) said up to 4 hrs on a copper surface.
You forget to post a highly magnified image of a corroded surface. Thanks!!
BUTTER?
Maybe we could have something like an off-topic 'swear jar'. Violators would have to drop a Merc dime in there......
Man, that's BAD!
But it's also good.
Pete
Unless your from the CDC or a medical doctor, postings about the virus from a "common Joe" are just speculation or parroting news stories we can get elsewhere. I come here to escape the real world and immerse myself in a hobby.

I think the OP should be banned for creating a Coronavirus thread.
Don't Poke the Mods! The only folks who may get banned are you and the two members who LOL at your post.
I gave my first flag today. Just for fun. ( it shows up as an LOL @ insider2
I think the initial posts about shows being cancelled and how people would change their shopping habits made sense. Now, though, as the government response becomes more clear, I am afraid that threads will veer too much into the political/critical area with flaring emotions. I agree with closing the Covid19 threads at this time. In the weeks and months ahead I will see the forum as a place of refuge and cameraderie in contrast with the fearmongering of the media (get that ad revenue!) and obtain my information about the pandemic from my trusted medical/scientific sources. Thank you Heather for allowing us to post comments on this thread. Everyone stay healthy!
