1938 P Jefferson Nickel question.

Found this 1938. When putting it in a 2x2 noticed rotated die. Are these very common for this year? Does it hold any extra value to the coin? or just worth about a Dime? Thanks for any help.

I think the "generally accepted" minimum to consider it a rotated die is something like 45 degrees. This one looks to be 10-20 degrees so I don't think it adds any value. That's a great circulation find though.

Minor rotations are common on nickels.
Remember to smash those staples!
About these 2x2 flips. Be careful about thinking "rotated"! I experienced myself thinking the coin inside these may be rotated? When I took the same coin out of the 2x2 flip, it turned out to be a "normal" coin! So don't let these 2x2's deceive you.

No premium for that degree of rotation, but always interesting. A good coin to keep as an 'education' piece. Cheers, RickO
A good album coin. It was probably put back into circulation by the heir of a collection who viewed it as spending money. It is unusual to find one in that high a grade though the date does sometimes appear. ( I got one in change about six months ago.) The rotation is too minor to merit any premium.
flatten the staples. youll be happier later
