Getting ready for the lockdown....

I live in SoCal and it looks like the city is on the edge of Defcon 4. I ran to the store and stocked up just in case I get quarantined.

Actually I bought these from different sources - ebay, in-store, shows, online. I also have a ton of Mega Boxes I need to break. Maybe that is the bright side to all of this chaos.

What a combo! Toilet Paper and 2019 Optic Football. One of those paper products is a good investment, the other has pictures of men in helmets hitting each other.

My starter stash I found today while trying to get some more Heritage at the local Walmart, they had some of the optic football as well, is it good?

  • ndleondleo Posts: 4,143 ✭✭✭✭✭

I would buy the Optic blasters with the Pink Refractors. I don't care for the Optic jersey rookies.

Why is everyone stocking up on TP for this thing. Went to the store and everything is normal stock wise except for TP and ramen noodles - both are wiped out.

    Some people got jokes.

Rudy Gobert has tested positive and the NBA has indefinitely suspended their season.

Yeah, hoarding toilet paper seems silly. I’ll bet we haven’t seen anything yet.

Anyone else refer to toilet paper as "bung fodder" back in the day?

I went to 4 Wal-Mart's and could only come up with two rolls of toilet paper (1 for me and 1 for her) ....uh oh... she is not going to be happy... :(

Sometimes if you loosen up the cover you can get more rolls from the dispenser

When the apocalypse hits, everyone else is storming the food and toiletries isles. We’re storming the baseball card isle so we have something to do when locked down.

One of the doctors being interviewed agreed the run on TP was strange because the virus doesn’t cause diarrhea.

I think it has to do with being quarantined. If you're not supposed to leave the house for 2-3 weeks for anything, that would be something you don't want run out of. Seems people are stocking up just in case they are quarantined.

well, leaves are a bit uncomfortable...

I think I will go get some TP.

Hey! I love those cards. I am working on getting many of them autographed.

This is awesome!!! This is definitely an excuse to get some unopened! I also have boxes and boxes of junk wax so the other end is covered as well.

My nearby Walmart was wiped out, no boxes. Saw a dude on a moped with a mask, but no eye protection. No cards at CVS, not sure they even carry them. Did score 4 Arizona watermelon drinks for $2 then waited in line behind a guy planning fo a dysentery outbreak w/ 4 cases of water to rehydrate and 4 mega size packs of toilet paper for what I assume in his case will be the most epic montezumas revenge ever. :D:D

So I was thinking... what would be the best junk wax that could double as TP? Gotta plan for multi purpose tools in this situation. I am gonna say 1991 Topps.

    Damn, I am going crazy....

The no sports to watch on TV is going to make for the worst part of the lockdown.

Guess I picked the right time to be building 1980’s sets of perfection. Over the next few weeks I will have to shift to a new sorting approach...the grading pile, stars and rookie pile, backside wiping pile and the emergency pile of box/case kindling. I knew one day my crazy obsession with the 1980s would pay off, just not financially 🤣

I'm in Montgomery County, PA; We were just put on lockdown, I guess I'll have some time to list on ebay now and prepare a bulk sub that I'll get back hopefully by Christmas.

Oh yea, our local Giant was sold out of toilet paper; time to look elsewhere

I have to much S**t; so if you working on sets or are a player/team collector, send me your want list, with conditions desired. Keep in mind I have a another job so please allow me a few days to respond.

Guys, you are not taking into account further delays. This will impact PSA, I would imagine.

Work hard and you will succeed!!

I went ti stock up and and all they had was 1 ply. Life is getting rough here in NYC

It's getting crazier in SoCal. My employer sent all of us home to work for at least one week. Better stock up more!

It is somewhat disappointing that Panini reduced the number of Red Yellow Rookie Prizms from 10 per box to 6 per. Hopefully they added more inserts.

For those of you counting. that is 27 blasters x 6 packs each + 20 Megas x 10 packs each = 362 packs to rip.

I will be starting a 2019 Optic FB thread on the BST page after this week!

Opened up 27 2019 Optic FB Blasters. They were purchased from various sources. I think my average buy price is $17 each.

I am close to 1 complete set, about 30% of the Pink Refractor set, 27 holos, and 27 insert cards. Only pulled one each of Murray and Jones base rc. Did pull 5 Mecole Hardman RCs. Overall I would rate this an OK buy. Blasters are still the least expensive way to buy singles for sets, but you don't get any high end cards.

Here are the best cards. I'll be posting the Mega Box rip soon.

I know you all have mountains of cards to sort that you've been putting off for years.

  • krisd3279krisd3279 Posts: 808 ✭✭✭✭

Nope. Mine are all sorted. Except for those 88 Topps Big. And those 93 Upper Deck I picked up. Oh yeah, and those........

Martial law is right around the corner. They just shutdown the largest mall in South Carolina a mile from my house until March 29th. We have 28 cases statewide. Of course it wont reopen then
