I finally reach 100 posts! I definitely get out of it more than I put in.
I mainly come here for the coin pics and collecting stories. So, here is one of my favorite acquisitions. It’s definitely not one of my most valuable and it’s tied with one other as the lowest graded in my collection. As a date, 1854-D’s are fairly available, but as a variety, nice examples hard to locate.
1854-D $5 (Medium D Variety) PCGS AU50 (CAC). Purchased June 2019; (correctly) attributed by PCGS in July, 2019; CAC apprvd Oct, 2019. My pics are with iPhone and in the prior holder with a Large D label before resubmission.

That’s a great looking coin. I’d love to see some more pictures of your gold coins.
Nice coin, but I would not call it fairly abundant, especially when compared to a 16d Merc or an 09s vdb cent. Survival #’s of pre Civil War gold are fairly low. Estimated survival #’s are anything but exact, but do give a fairly good idea.
Awesome coin. I purchased two raw Dahlonega minted half eagles several years ago (1843-D & 1852-D)... like yours, not of the highest grade. They are two of my favorite coins and as I type they are on their way to our host for slabbing and grading.
Congratulations, 100 posts! You will catch me, if I stop posting, in say a century?

Nice coin!
I agree-poor word choice. Edited to strike ‘abundant’ and insert ‘available.’ (Relative to other D mint dates.) Good catch @Smudge !
Nice coin, dude!
