Lakers look good; maybe the prospect of more titles and MVPs...
Curious about the rare, mysterious and beautiful 1951 Wheaties Premium Photos?

Agreed. This was all known in December. What is different now? (Not being argumentative; just making a point). I sold one yesterday and if I would have waited until today I make another 20%. Seems like not a good time to buy or sell.
I really can't explain it, but the only explanation I can think of is the Lakers and Lebron are looking great. It's probably one of those crazy overnight things. I was watching the Lakers game yesterday, and Lebron was on fire. Lebron and Zion Williamson went to war with eachother in yesterdays game, and Lebron was hitting ridiculous shots. He looked like Michael Jordan out there, he was unstoppable.
I posted a similar post on Net54 earlier. Just trying to figure out why this card has gone up so much so quickly. But also do you think it still has more room to grow, and then will it be sustainable or will it go back down? Not sure if this would be a card to sell now or to hold long term.

Gary Vee has made another post about this card recently. I had a non collector friend even send it to me so the message is getting out to the masses.

There’s this thing called “The Buyer’s Club”...
Would you have rather sold for $2,000 two months ago? Obviously the increase in price over the last two months is what pried the card out of your hands. You feel it should stop increasing in price the day you sell it? You want to be the guy that sells at the tippy top of the market?
Save yourself some aggravation and stop checking the price. Think of it like a divorce. You sold the card for a price you wanted, now it's time to move on.
I think it is only natural to have a bit of regret when you feel as though you sold a bit too soon.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
partying like it's 2016.
Reasonable point. I did consider selling at several other price points. I would rather be early to this selling party than late. The one day difference is just so crazy.
I though the 2k price would have stuck for a while given the rather large pop. I’m wondering where it’s going to be at the end of the season, especially if the Lakers win The Finals. I’m a Bucks fan, so obviously that won’t happen.
It is really interesting reading Gary Vee's Twitter feed. A ton of fresh speculators have and are moving into cards.
Not sure if this is good or bad long term but certainly driving prices.
Lebron stuff is hot, I bought two hobby boxes of 2003 topps basketball about three years ago for $200 each, probstein sold one this week for $1351
He is pumping the hell out of various cards. Many of them because he bought them and now he can tell his minions what great investments they are and he can profit off of them. Many of them will get left holding the bag. It's a money grab for him. He is great at finding hot items, capitalizing on them and then moving on. Once this bubble bursts, and we all know it will one day, he will have moved on to something else. I don't fault him for making money but in my opinion, he is exactly what is wrong with the hobby today and will be part of it's downfall. Many collectors will be hurt by it and never come back. This happened 30 years ago and the writing is on the wall again.
What happened 30 years ago?
I normally agree that things tend to go up and then back down, but I think this card may be one of the few exceptions. I see Lebron being a premier player that is collected over the next 20 years, similar to Jordan now. And this is the rookie card to have, unless you start getting into the short printed ones like the black version or the refactor. I compare this to the 86 fleer Jordan in that I think the value with stay consistent over time and not drop a ton.
