2020 DDO ASE help

Hello
I found this site on a search and was hoping that someone might help identify this new silver Eagle as being a doubled die date or not. Nowhere else on the Eagle does this appear, just the date. Attaching a few pictures that show closeups of the "doubling?" Thanks

It’s common ejection or mechanical doubling – not considered an error and definitely not a doubled die

  • Thank you for the kind response. I was obviously hoping otherwise as the whole box has it and they are all from the same working dies it seems because they all have the same die scratch stretching from ray 2 to ray 3 midway up, and same scratch patch in the acute crook between the "L" and ray 3 (pictured). When ejection or mechanical doubling occurs, it then can persist in sequence for a large number of strikes? And if you wouldn't mind another beginner question, why does it only effect a limited area? Again much appreciated

    Yes

Also there are quite a few minor doubled dies in the ASE series, they have not caught on with the collector market yet.

@sholper....Welcome aboard.... I agree with the above - mechanical doubling....I suggest you get the Redbook and the Cherry Pickers Guide... They will help immensely with identifying rarities and coin mintage. Cheers, RickO
