Just FYI 1982 cents, copper.

emeraldATVemeraldATV Posts: 4,059 ✭✭✭✭✭

I just started finding coppers looking like zinc.
3 in two days or maybe I was not paying attention as to quickly write it off.
But, all get weighed.
I find it strange.

It is very distracting, I agree, but have to log it.
    Just my 2 cents?
Now all I have to do get a matching set.
    Someday I'll show the gems.

    Someday? How about today?
Do you think your weights are accurate with all the crap stuck to those coins?

Ok sure. 1982 was the transitional year from 95% copper to copper coated zinc. There is a large and small date variety. 82-D small date was only produced in zinc if I am not mistaken.
What does this have to do with corroded and goo-covered coins? Yes corrosion is distracting, just spend them and they are out of your hair. I am trying to understand what you are getting at but I can't.

What do think of the floating 70's.
    Cool huh.
7-8 different varieties to complete a set of the 1982 cent
I think its for beginers to get a feel of the hobby.
The Lincoln Resource Center is a good starting point.

I think you've been finding coppers that look like Environmental damage. Copper is also a reactive metal and will discolor and pick up all kinds of junk if exposed to the right environment. don't read too much into these coins. The are just PMD

One or more 1982-D small date copper pieces have been discovered. Unfortunately, many people mistakenly think (or want to believe) they also have examples.

Those are very good pictures of damaged/corroded cents... No numismatic premiums, however, if you like them, then enjoy your coins. Cheers, RickO

Great pics! I applaud your endeavors! I love the fact snobs get mad at you for posting , when they can simple not read or look at them. Narcissisms at its best. ITS MY LOCKNAR? LOL . (If anyone even get that reference)

It's been over a year, and he's been on soft-ban, probably for just throwing huge corrosion pictures into people's threads. There is no problem posting this sort of thing if there is actually a question, but its fairly obvious that he is just trying to make a mockery of these boards. Just take a look at his profile and post history. It's obvious that he is doing this intentionally.
You guys sound like zippyzip and pedro.
No, posting damaged coins like this cannot possibly help new collectors, is that what the redbook does?

Here we go again, another waste of Forum time.

1982 pennies seem to be the coin that is most commonly posted about on the forum. Either I don't know something, or many, many, other people do know something. Or.......can anyone spell T..R..O..L..L? Or...multiple TROLLS! i.e. the same TROLL using different identities? People are TOO nice around here. Helpful to a fault.
Wise up!..... Can't WAIT for the nasty reply.

Its just about time that an effective moderator rounds these people up & invites them to go sell their coins on etsy. They're all page one whores. Good riddance.

    Have a nice day
