1973 D Penny. Help with this please!

Seems to be more than just die chip? possible Error? Just want to clearify what type of error or name of this bird droppling. :)

    Yep, looks like an internal die break (commonly called a die chip).

    Double check to make sure there's no indent by the LI in LIBERTY. Hard for me to tell from the pics, but if the there is a deep indent, that would mean it took a hit that pushed through to the other side. And that would be PMD.

    Did you notice the large Designer Initials? Only in 1973 were they that big.

    The Mint introduced a new reverse for the Lincoln Cent in 1973. Mint officials thought the size was too big, so they made Chief Engraver Frank Gasparro make another reverse for 1974 with smaller initials.

    That makes 1973 a one year type coin.
