I saw in the recommended reading list a book called from mine to mint by roger w. Burdette. I would like to read it but its not available at my 5 city wide library system! 😵 so I wondered if anyone had any reccomendations on books that talk about the process of mining and minting. Hopefully that is in my library system. Thanks.

If you're an ANA member they have a lending library you can use.

I don’t know about the mining side but one book which is great on the minting process is: The Modern Minting Process by James Wiles. It also goes into how many of the coin errors are made and what they look like. It’s an older book but I see some copies available from time to time on amazon and eBay.

A book you may want to own rather than borrow.
I agree with @Smudge if you have the funds, I would recommend buying a copy for your numismatic library.
Thanks for the replies.
Buy this one. It includes a CD with a searchable PDF of the book, too.

Definitely you should buy the book.... Roger is an excellent researcher and author of numismatic material. Cheers, RickO
Well, it's not a cheap book, even at $40. I will have to consider this some more.
Maybe your library has inter-library loan if you want to try before you buy, but advice here is usually well-taken.

Knowledge rarely comes cheaply. I recommend you get the book. IMO, it is not for beginners but eventually, you'll learn enough to appreciate it.
In addition to buying coins, presumably from a set budget, you should also set aside a smaller budget for numismatic books. Every coin collector should have at least a modest number of numismatic books. You will learn important things from them, and they will help to keep you tied to the hobby when you are not actively buying coins.
Burdette's book is important, as others noted.
