The 1820 is decent.
Likely been cleaned and has mostly retoned. Has a couple small digs/pinpricks that are acceptable to most collectors though not all...
The 42-O has had a bit tougher life -- cleaned and banged up a little....maybe possibly bent and lightly corroded.
Pics make it look that way anyway.
The 1814 is all right but appears to have reverse damage.
I would definitely keep them.... Of course, I keep all my coins .... Those are nice old silver coins, show honest commerce, though the 1814 has been defaced on the reverse....Put them in capsules or an album...Or send them to me and I will give them a loving, comfortable home... Cheers, RickO

Just wondering bout everybody's thoughts on em I've very recently started collecting so still ain't 100 percent thanks for the info tho
Since these coins are your 'starter' coins, keep them for a while. The 1820 dime is the best of the lot. Your third coin (1814) was tooled (and then a clumsy attempt was made to smooth out the damage). Your second coin (1842-O) lived a hard life--notice the rough obverse and how rough the reverse rim is.
Just don't buy any more coins that look like these. Be picky. There is nothing wrong with wear, but stay away from coins with bad marks, and especially from ones that were harshly cleaned/polished/whizzed/tooled. Look at lots of coins before you make a purchase.

Thanks so much for the info i will def do more research before my next purchase y'all have been so helpful im soon planning on buying at least one mint state coin for my collection in glad I talked to yall before
I'd keep them too! ...at least until I got around to getting upgrade pieces. Get used to determining whether or not coins have been cleaned. There are enough Guess The Grade (GTG) threads on this forum that looking at old posts could prove a bit helpful. Above all, have fun, and welcome to the forum!

Look at as many coins in person is where you really learn. Pictures might give a good idea. Imo too many folks believe they can do it all on the Internet. Then they come here and perhaps find out different. Or some still insist to depend on everything from online pictures. Good luck.
