Need to go to Garage Sales more often

Went to 5 or 6 today, looking for a vise for the work bench and found one but they would not sell. Oh well. Raining here in Vegas and at the last garage sale there was this silver set and I asked the price. $150 firm. Okay, looked at a few pieces to confirm sterling and said I'd take it. Didn't have the $$ on me and she said she'd hold for 20 minutes. Went home, grabbed the cash and walah, it's mine now! Full set of 12 place settings of Northumbria (Canadian silver) and 3 extra pieces. Probably a grand in silver. Nice day to do a garage sale.....

Believe it, it happened and I'm pleased as punch. She was selling yesterday all day as well and there were dozens of plated pieces stacked on top and I think everyone saw that and didn't look underneath...pays to look deep! Under the plated was a 12 piece set, almost 2,000 grams of Sterling Silver.

I had a 3 pound sterling serving tray come in one time.
Still had the 10c garage sale price on masking tape.
Silver was at 40+
this was a LONG time ago.
12 piece set was all Sterling, there were a couple of dozen pieces of plated on top of the Sterling. Total of 1,997 grams of Sterling Silver.

I'm guessing you took the weight of knife blades out of the total weight.
As you know they are steel. Guessing they are 20g ea x 12..

Yes, knives are not included in total grams. My experience leads me to 1/2oz of silver in knife handles (average) and there are 24 in this set......just a bonus!
