A coin reference in Magnum PI (new TV series) last night

They mention a 1932 Denver Quarter.

(Think they share writers with Hawaii 5-0; must be one writer who likes coins).

Great catch. For those who missed the show Magnum challenged the bad guys to locate the quarter in exchange for the girl he was protecting in an elevator as a means to buy time until he could figure out a way to escape with the girl and his associate Higgins.

I just do not watch enough TV.... Usually news.... or, occasionally NCIS or FBI....Always have other stuff to do... I have three projects going/waiting....and I am behind on reading (one book in process, four more in the stack)....But those shows usually get people asking questions and checking their coin stashes....usually without success. Cheers, RickO

I saw that but they never explained why a 32D and not something a lot more valuable.... Guess it doesn't matter but it was interesting.

    Show just ran again tonight!

Had completely forgotten the original episode until the quarter reference in the elevator scene.

Another interesting note concerns coins in episodes of NCIS.

Donald P. Bellisario is the producer of NCIS, as well as Magnum PI, and some older shows like JAG, Quantum Leap, and others.

Donald’s brother is Lee J Bellisario a coin dealer, now retired I believe, who had his start back in the 1980s at New England Rare Coin Galleries (auction).

There have been several episodes of NCIS where coins played an big part in the story line.

    Coincidental? I think not.
