Brad's new book arrived today in the mail.
The book is hard cover, which I personally really enjoy, the size is approximately 9" x 11" and it's a total of 252 pages.
I am very excited to dig into it and learn what I can about portrait coins.
I am far, far away from being anything even close to knowledgeable in this area of collecting, but I don't think it takes an expert to quickly recognize that this book is going to be one of those key reference materials for which people will still refer to twenty years from now. It is well worthy of a collectors consideration to add to their library.
Best of luck Brad with your new book, congratulations!

A Variety Guide to the Silver and Copper Coinage of the Mexico City Mint, 1772-1821
As the title indicates, it covers all silver denominations (1/4, ½, 1, 2, 4, and 8 reales) and the three copper fractional reales, as issued by this mint starting from the cessation of pillar coinage until the end of Spanish colonial issues. The book is 266 pages, hardback, with over 500 black and white photographs, as is written using the layout familiar from my previous books.

So, would anyone like to estimate the percentage of entries that have photos?
Arrived today! Bravo! Looks great!
Got my copy today. Great reference with a lot of valuable information - will definitely use this to continue building my varieties collection.
One neat discovery - Brad seems to have pulled a number of images from PCGS Coinfacts and noted as Courtesy of PCGS. What caught me off-guard was the image for the 1811-HJ date. It's a modest XF45 example with a nice pleasant tone that I gave to my wife raw as a present when we were dating (weird present, i know, but i'm a coin geek ). Years later when we got married, one evening she pulls out this puzzle box and inside, carefully wrapped in tissue paper, was that 8 Reales. I included it in my next submission to PCGS and it's been an important part of my collection ever since. Recognized it instantly even with the black and white images in Brad's book (that reverse die crack is pretty distinct)

That is really cool. Bet the wife enjoyed that too. I am enjoying my copy of the book, though no major discoveries...other than the realization that many of the fractional low-grade coins I have may be more scarce than I thought.
Brad came and spoke at our coin club (Glendale Coin Club) not too long ago. Everyone was very impressed with his presentation and you could immediately tell he really knew the subject. Also could tell right away that he's not the type of person to fill in the blanks if he didn't know something. He did his homework and knew what he was taking about and was able to pass that information along to even the beginning collectors. I'm sure the book is great and will be a valuable resource in the area of collecting.

Got mine in the mail yesterday.
Where can I buy one of these books? Is Brad Yonaka going to print any more books?
Like with most books on Mexican/Central America/South America coins a combination of luck and patience. I doubt he will be printing any new copies. Maybe contact him and ask if he may still have a copy or put an add on this website in the buying section and hopefully someone can help you locate a copy.
Try contacting Sedwick LLC they may or may not have a copy. You can also try World Numismatics LLC. Ebay is another option to keep an eye on.
Many books in this area of collecting become collectibles in their own right due to so few ever been printed.
