Story... It's worth how much???
Saw the Antiques Roadshow post on the Rolex being worth $500K and it got me remembering a numismatic find.
My wife is an esthetician. One sweet elderly woman gave her a of proof set as a tip. My much better half gave me the set which sat in the drawer for about ten years.
One day, I stumble across the Wide AM/ Close AM Lincoln in the CPG guide or on a thread and notice proof sets being mentioned as a possible cherrypick candidate.
Quickly ran to compare and there it was in all its glory... 1998 Close AM Lincoln.
Remember flipping the set for almost $250
I asked my wife to call the lady and see if she had anymore, but they had moved or passed away.
Not my biggest score, but it helped with the painful memory of buying three 1995 DDO's for about $200 each.

The minor variety market (I consider the Close AM to be a minor variety) is a strange one. Some people will pay stupid money to get them while others such as myself would pay no premium for them at all. You were wise to cash out on your find quickly.
The man with the watch on ANTIQUES ROADSHOW would be wise to cash out quickly as well while the buzz from the broadcast is still fresh in people's minds.
I hope he does cash out... the news of his 'treasure' really seemed to affect him... as if he needed the money. I really like it when good things happen to people in need....Cheers, RickO
People want to ride the “WAM” BULANCE I have seen it lol Now the 92 Close AM is a treat in my opinion. Cool short there!
I remember when I had two Adams Presidential dollars that had the edge lettering on twice and overlapping, I had two I got cheap and traded for two CC Morgan Dollars's in GSA holders graded MS64. Now you can get those same Prez Bucks on eBay for $15.00 in NGC holders. So glad I traded!

When I become Grand HIgh Exalted Poobah Ruler of the US, I will require Antique Roadshow type shows to purchase any item they appraise for A MINIMUM of 50% of the valuation. I mean, even with auction fees. etc. they will make a ton of $$.
Yeah right.
