In response to CommemKing, I don’t believe that Joe Orlando was “blaming” modern card submissions for the unprecedented spike in business, he’s stating facts. Most people would read that article and take in the figures and realize those are the real reasons every step in the entire grading process is taking longer. If you go to Disney World over Christmas break and the line for Magic Mountain is two hours long because of the enormity of the crowd, do you wait in line for your turn or do you complain that you’ve been coming to the park for 15 years and the wait was never this long before? I know it’s frustrating, I have multiple submissions there too that I’d like back, but the numbers JO put out there should at least give everyone a glimpse as to what’s going on at PSA. Should also give some reassurance that PSA is as solid as ever.

i stopped going to disney 8 years ago... because of the lines
The kids enjoy the fast pass at universal studio and islands of adventure (It takes 5 minutes to 10 minutes with a fast pass.)
Hypothetically, if Islands of Adventure charged me 89 dollars for a fast pass and it takes 2 hours for the line i would get pissed...

I guess people are upset because they are paying for the regular service and sometimes express service and its taking too long..

My Collectors Club Voucher order arrived in Newport Beach on 12/27, logged "Stage 3" on 1/15, and reached "Stage 4" review process on 2/6. I'm getting excited now! lol

Here's an SCD article about why orders have taken so long with some quotes from Joe Orlando explaining the reasons.

This is pretty interesting to read. I am for sure guilty of this as well. I am a Pokemon collector and boxes where the main card is visible (i.e. Tag Team Generations Premium Collection) I select the boxes at the store that will be graded as 10s. This way, I can make enough money off the extra graded 10 cards to essentially open packs for free or for a small profit. Long process, and your money doesn't return for quite some time due to turnarounds, but it is fun to do in the end. The labor time involved is not cost effective, but hobbies aren't necessarily there to make profits.

It is what is. I have had to wait for long periods however accurate grading is worth the wait.
Everyone wants to complain about the waits but what cards do you find for sale PSA.
I am not trying to be a spokesman for PSA in any way but facts are facts.

Problem is that the accuracy for me has been lacking a bit recently too. Last order I got back was 124 cards and 6 of them were blatant errors. Two 10's were graded as 6's (same cards) and four 9-10s received 7's. I have graded and collected enough to know they are just plain wrong and emailed about what to do and have yet to hear back. In the past I had the same problem receiving a 6 on a 10 card (the same card as this recent order) and proved they were wrong by cracking it out and resubmitting it. It did in fact go from a 6 to a 10 on the resubmit. I know mistakes happen but how on Earth is a 10 put in as a 6?

I agree with you on accuracy . I very often feel the way about some of my cards and am sure they were not right. I once purchased a PSA 7 1959 Topps Robin Roberts which the back of the card was almost completely covered with a dark wax stain.GO FIGURE!!!

I agree with fiveniner. By now we all should know what wait times will be. If you can't or won't wait then either buy already graded or submit somewhere else. I agree it does take patience, but if you want the best you need to wait. You are not being charged until the completed order is shipped back to you.

  • If it was a recent issue, where they just got slammed, I think people would be more understanding. However, they do not seem to be making progress.

I would say they're making substantial progress, but demand is increasing faster than they can train qualified people. Loggage was down to 5-7 biz days again (for bulks, faster for higher service levels) with the increased demand, prior to announcing the Jan 1 price hike. If you've been around long enough to see the impact of other price hike announcements, this should not be a surprise. It's a temporary spike as people submit to get things in at the lower rate and will subside with things getting back to "normal" again soon.

  • What do you consider "normal?" Has there been any time during the last year that the regular turnaround time has been less than 30 calendar days?

Not for bulks, that aren't advertised at anything close to that, but at other service levels, yes.

I had a regular CC voucher order of 2 cards go 14 days from login to ship. Whole process maybe around 30 calendar days. Was pretty shocked. Along with it a 156 card order went 28 days to ship. That order was shipped before a 124 bulk order submitted two months before it. So I got a larger bulk order back before a smaller order submitted two months before it. The whole thing just confuses me.

So you had a 156 card order finished and shipped within 28 business days.... and started a thread to complain about PSA’s practices?

    Yaz Master Set
    #1 Gino Cappelletti master set
    #1 John Hannah master set

Also collecting Andre Tippett, Patriots Greats' RCs, Dwight Evans, 1964 Venezuelan Topps, 1974 Topps Red Sox

This is a gripe about recent logins and terrible consistency. The thread isn't about turnarounds it was about logins.

Also, it was actually 28 calendar days (after login wait) and it finished 60 calendar days before a smaller order. It just doesn't make sense to me but I am in no way upset I got it so fast. The problem is that nothing can be predicted at all. I just don't understand why FIFO isn't a thing over there.
